I am getting a Convert Step Error When Making .ISO Image

Post by leprechaun »

I am trying to make an image/DVD with MF4 and I keep getting the error:

Convert step got some problems (4102)

Any ideas what the problem is? Is there any way to fix it without trying to make an iso of EACH one and isolating the problem? Like is there something that can check for corrupted movies? And if it is corrupted, how can i fix it?

Thanks! :D

few things to check:

1) do you have any .mp3 audio tracks (menu background music, or audio replacement file)? convert the .mp3's to 48khz .wav first

2) any divx or xvid videos? these types of videos can be problematic

3) making an image, will it be larger than 4gb? is your hard drive setup as NTFS?

No to both 1 and 2 but I do have NTFS and the project on the bottom (where is has the blue, yellow, red line to measure how much space is used), it says 4.15GB. I get the same error, however, when not even making an image and just sending it to the DVD so I don't think it could be a problem with the ISO file.

Ok i have isolated the "problem WMV file" by making individual ISOs which just one movie on each. It is a small 10 minute WMV movie (like all the others). I have tried reopening/and re-making it on the PC through windows movie maker several times but still get the error. What's wrong?

Thanks!

I got the "Convert step got some problems" message too and freaked out over it.

In my case, it turned out that the drive used for temporary files was getting full. All I had to do was delete the temp files, and when I tried again, everything worked fine.

Yeah I emptied the temp folder and made sure I had plenty of hard disk space. It still did not work; I found out that only one of the movies was causing the problem; what can i do to make the movie not cause this error?

Hi,

Don't know.

Can you convert the wmv file?

are there any free converters out there? all i can find are paid programs or trials that put a big X in the middle of the movie...

Solved! Just thought I'd post my fix in case anyone else experiences this problem :P

First, check to make sure your dvd doesnt exceed 4GB. That can create problems like GeorgeW said.

If you are able to isolate the problem movie by JUST making an image with each individual movie, then take the problem movie(s) and convert them to AVI using "Fx Mpeg Writer" (free from download.com). Once this is done, use the newly converted movie and it should work fine!

Only get this error now that I have MSP8

I get the same error now that I have upgraded to MSP8. The exact same project file that did not cause errors with MF4 now DOES cause this same error now that I have MSP8.

1. I have plenty of disk space for temp files.
2. My file is way under 4GB although I am using NTFS in any case.
3. I had created .MPGs with MSP7. I had originally added one more .mpg made with MSP8, but I removed that, thinking it might be the problem.

Ideas? On the surface, it sounds like some conflict between MF4 and MSP8.

Thanks.
