I’ve installed VideoStudio Pro X2 on my new Windows 7 Laptop. There are 1 or 2 things I use Windows Movie Maker for, so I’ve installed WMM v2.6 as well. However when I open WMM after about 2 seconds it tells me that: “Windows Movie Maker has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working.”
I had a similar problem with WMM on my old Windows XP laptop, but found that as soon as I removed X2, WMM then worked fine. Does anyone know if there’s anything I can do get them both working on the same laptop at the same time?
Thanks,
Jedzi

When WMM stops working can you check the Event Viewer in Windows 7 to find clues as to what caused the crash? Report back here. They shouldn't conflict like that but it seens they are sharing a resource they don't like sharing.

I have to admit that I don't know my way around the Event Viewer, so I hope this is what you were asking for. Pls shout if it was something else.

Re: Running X2 and Windows Movie Maker on Same Machine
Yes thanks...that's all the information that is required.
I've done a Google search on the kernelbase.dll error that you are getting it seems to be a fairly common error with no known default fix.
You may want to try uninstall WMM and re installing again...this seems to be the most common fix on other software that use the kernelbase.dll file and that have issues when loading.
If that doesn't work then you may need to try and avoid having both open at the same time

Re: Running X2 and Windows Movie Maker on Same Machine
Just before trying to delete WMM I uninstalled Corel DVD Copy ... and I can now open and use WMM, which is really good.Clevo wrote:...

I've never really used Corel DVD Copy and AFAIK I can use the Toshiba or Microsoft software that came with my laptop.
Thanks for your help,
Jedzi
