Pro X2 Crash CoreAudioToolbox

Post by roly3video »

I am trying to encode to BluRay a compilation of Canon 5D2 HD video plus some stills (shrunk to about 1000x800 pixels). This has the Canon audio track plus some background music from mp3 files.
When I try to encode it runs for about an hour and then crashes. The problem report data says vstudio.exe has crashed with the fault module CoreAudioToolbox.dll. A bit of digging says CoreAudioToolbox may be to do with Quicktime so I have done a clean install of that but still have the same problem.
Corel don't want to help and have directed me here.
Anyone else had this and got a fix?
Thanks

Certain types of MP3 have given VS trouble in the past, although I have never heard of that error being associated with them. You can try converting them to wav files and see if that helps.

Also I would guess your video clips are 1440 x 1080 or 1920 x 1080px. I would resize your stills to at least this size and bigger if you intend to zoom them at all.

Thanks for those - will try using the wav files. Seems counterintuitive as the wav files are so much larger, but I suppose the software is trying to decompress the mp3's before encoding -- so maybe it will work. I wonder if it also stuggles to decompress the jpeg stills I am using -- so wonder if it would prefer TIFF's?
I will struggle to find a time slot to do these changes just now folks, so please look again in about a week when hopefully I will be able to post again with feedback.

Robertnag, if you're still using VS8, what OS are you running it on? You need to complete your system information in your User Control Panel, and also go to the Read this first... sticky located at the top of this forum, and return with the requested information.

SOLVED!!! HOPE USEFUL Pro X2 Crash CoreAudioToolbox

Post by ergalarza »

I decided to investigate which kind of file coreaudiotoolbox.dll was, and found out it belonged to Apple Application Support, and followed CAREFULLY the instructions shown in Apple site http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925?viewlocale=en_US in order to fully uninstall each Quicktime-related program in my PC. After having uninstalled all the listed programs, I made a cleanup with CCleaner and restarted my PC, and deleted the remaining folders and directories as per Apple's instructions.

Then, I re-installed ONLY Quicktime (no ITunes, no IPod), in a quite old version (7.60.92.0) NOT CHECKING the Automatic Update option.

This solved the crashing problem! And UVSX2 is now even handling .mov files more easily (i.e. no "insufficient memory" issues).

I hope this useful for above users.

I can't believe I had been stuck with this problem for over 10 days, almost believing there was no way out!

I still have same problem with COREAUDIOTOOLBOX , Have tried the all suggestions, reinstalled everything, same result, COREAUDIOTOOLBOX faults PRO x2. I have a second backup disc that has the old Quicktime that works fine. I deleted the Quicktime on my faulty disk but was unable to install the old Quick time, because one file was "missing". I feel that Apple application support is at fault, but I cant seem to be able to communicate with them.

THANK YOU!!

I was starting to wonder why my working Win-7-64b and Pro X2 stopped working with 1280x720 video files.
Removing all the Apple stuff and installing just that Quicktime 7.6 version, got everything working again!

Thanks again...
