Exactly what format to you have to export video files to have the chapter markers preserved? I export a video file from VS x3 with chapter markers and when I bring it into DVD Studio, all the markers are gone. Any thoughts?

Re: Chapter markers?
Do you mean DVD Factory Pro 2010 or DVD MovieFactory 7SE, or some other program?when I bring it into DVD Studio
When you create a DVD MPEG-2 video file in VS, the chapter markers should be there, however any names applied will not. In DVD MovieFactory 7SE, you need to go to Add/Edit Chapters, then select the Auto Add Chapters, Insert Scenes as chapters. DVD MF will interpret the chapters you placed in VS as the scenes.

Re: Chapter markers?
Hi Ron,
Yes , sorry I meant DVD Factory Pro 2010.
The piece I was working on was about 1.5 hrs long and when exported was over a DVD-R's capacity. I then used mpeg optimiser to bump up the compression. Once I got the mpg2 file to the 4.2GB size, I added it to the media library in DVD factory and drug it on the time line. All chapter markers I added in VS x3 were not there. Do I have to do something simalar in x3 as you described in 7se? Thanks for any insight.

Re: Chapter markers?
The path to the chapters is a little different in DVD Factory Pro. First however to fit more video onto a disc, you can alter the bitrate, making it lower. For example instead of using 8000kbps, try lowering it to around 5000kbps, or even 4500.
To use the chapter markers placed in VS, in DVD Factory after you have selected your video file, your DVD Menu Style, clicked on Go to menu editing, in this screen you should see some icons across the top of the preview window. The left-most icon when you mouse over it, should reveal the tool tip Create Chapter, click on it. Now in this next screen, there is only icon at the top, which is the Auto add chapter by scene or fixed interval, click it. Now look to the right and you should see the small box Auto set chapters, it has 2 radial button choices; Every with 5 mins being the default, and the below that is Per scene. You need to select the Per Scene, and then click OK. Now it should pick up those chapter marks as scenes, and they should be displayed in the timeline..
