Trouble switching to VS x3

Post by Sheep Cloner »

Hello, I'm a longtime vs user and I'm having trouble with my workflow since upgrading to x3. In short, the program "crashes" when trying to render and also intermittently when editing. Here are the details:

SYSTEM:
Win 7 64-bit
6 GB RAM
Intel i7 920 @2.67GHz
Programs installed on 250 GB HDD with 100 GB free
Files are located on 1.5TB drive (internal SATA) with 550 GB free
All video files are AVCHD Video from Sony HDR-SR11 (*.MTS)
I'm rendering to AVCHD NTSC 1920x1080 VBR at 16k

Details:
Every month I empty my video camera and use Corel to stitch together a single file to view via my XBox 360. I have been doing this for years. Problems began when upgrading to x3.
With vs x2 I would upload the files from the Sony Cam via Adobe Premier Elements (just for file management reasons!) > Import the months clips to vs x2. > By default I use a 2 sec crossfade between clips > Add a title > render as AVCHD (as described above).
With my processor power and without switching video format, renders were pretty fast.

UPDATE
So, I continue to be frustrated. Today I tried running the program as an administrator in XP SP3 mode. The whole file rendered! Then I played it and I have audio sync problems.

With X3 The render will begin. If I have a long video 90 minutes or so, I wont get passed 0% and I will get a dump error, contact Corel--blah blah. Shorter videos 30 min. Will get passed 0%, then fail. A tiny video 1-2 min MIGHT render successfully.

In February I had to dust the cobwebs off my Vista partition and use x2 on the same system to render the video. It worked perfectly. Now I'm 2 months behind and need a solution before starting on a much more involved project that I have to get done before June.

What I have tried
I have uninstalled and reinstalled X3 twice.
I have the latest direct X

I really appreciate your time in helping me solve this problem. I'm sure a solution is out there and I should of probably visited these boards sooner.
Thanks! ~Ken

Hi,

Would be easier to go to the USER CONTROL PANEL and fill in your system spec data their?

Patch due out shortly for MP$ rendering problems.

Have you tried using a program called SUPER to convert MTS files to wmv or other formats to TEST?

I have not tried converting. This isn't a solution for me since that requires more effort and time than using X2, which works flawlessly. Last night I uninstalled X3 and put X2 back on and it I had no problems whatsoever.
