Hello,
I got an EasyCap 60+. It came with VideoStudio10 SE. I was using it to capture VHS to DVD.
I had been compressing the video with ffdshow MPEG-2 / MPEG-4. Everything was OK until now.
For no particular reason, capture freezes after a few seconds. I Have to "terminate" the process to quit VS.
My configuration is:
Operating System: Vista Home Basic SP2
Motherboard: ACPI x86 Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset
Graphic Card: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset
Sound Card: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset
Processor: Intel T7250 C2D 2GHz
Hard Disk Drive: Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller / 120GB
Memory: 2GB
VS10SE
ffdshow 3130 (also tried 3370 - 21/April/2010)
I have already tried to update ffdshow and to reinstall the entire Vista to "zero" the codec files. No results. Can some Windows Update have messed up the ffdshow installation?
If I capture compressing with other codec such as Xvid, MJPEG... (not MPEG-2 or MPEG-4), VS10 works fine, but the video quality is poor.
Tried to install VS Vista Patch but the installer cannot find VS. Can the installer be looking for VS in the "Program Files" directory instead of the "Arquivos de Programas" directory? (my Vista is Portuguese)
Any help either to solve the ffdshow freezing or to install Vista Patch will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Was it working with Vista? Or, did you just now update to Vista? Do you have Vista drivers for the EasyCap device?Everything was OK until now.
I'm not sure, but the Vista update may not work with the SE version. The update notes say:
This update pack is for Ulead Video Studio 10/10 Plus...
(If you decide to upgrade to Video Studio X3, make sure to download the trial version first, because there is a chance that it won't work with EasyCap.)
I've never tried ffdshow with Video Studio, so I can't help you with that. But, I believe EasyCap should capture to MPEG-2 "out of the box" without the need for ffdshow.
FYI - A lot of people seem to have trouble with EasyCap.

1. You cannot apply an update patch to a SE version.
2. Re-installing does NOT remove any third party codecs you have installed.

Re: VS freezes and I cannot load Vista patch VS10SE
First of all, many thanks for your attention.
VS10 + Easycap were working perfectly before whatever happended. I am not sure if it was a Windows Update that broke the thing. I haven´t done anything else.
Initially I reinstalled ffdshow and VS.
After that, I have reinstalled Windows Vista with a partition exclusion. I believe nothing can survive to a radical thing like that.
If you have a suggestion of a codec to a VHS capture with Easycap (with settings), that would also help.
Again, thanks a lot.

A System Restore might have fixed it, but since you reinstalled Windows that nixes that idea.I am not sure if it was a Windows Update that broke the thing.
