Hi,
Help please. I am losing lip sync between vsp and the rendered video file. vsp project OK, rendered file not.
The source is from a Sony HDR-SR8E, AVCHD m2ts files. Using VideoStudio Pro X2.
Bearing in mind loss of sync is only apparent when someone talks to the camera so other clips may also be affected but that doesn't matter. It is strange that earlier and later such clips where someone talks to the camera are OK.
I don't understand how the sync can slip if video and audio are contained in the same file.

Re: Loss of lip sync
Can we assume you are rendering to a new AVCHD file? If so, then in the past, SmartRender caused a lot of sync problems. So if you are using it, turn it off and try rendering again...

Re: Loss of lip sync
I am rendering using "Same as first video clip" and file properties confirms PAL HDMV, H.264 Upper field first, Dolby digital audio. I hope that answers your question, I don't understand all these files types.
After I have corrected this problem, I want to burn to a Blu ray disc. Which would be the best rendering option to use, AVCHD or Blu ray?
Thanks for suggesting the possible remedy, I'll try that tomorrow and report back.

Re: Loss of lip sync
Ken,
Brilliant! That's fixed it. I would never have thought of that. I was begining to think I might have to separate the sound track and delay it. The project is now safely on disc.
I have been using VideoStudio since version 6 but this is my first HD project and still a lot to learn.
Accolades,
I'll look out for the patch, hopefully it will be compatible with X2.
Many thanks for all your help.

Re: Loss of lip sync
Baldrick -- glad that worked. I have been saying for nearly two years now not to use SmartRender with either HDV or AVCHD, but few seem to take much notice of me, until a situation such as you found yourself in occurs... Maybe the message will begin to spread...
