VS9 + EasyCap USB 2.0 + Windows 7 = Major Migraine.

Post by Bukimari »

Ok, I've already had issues with this and posted a post like this before, but since it was like a month or two ago, that would be considered necroposting to bring that back up. So here is a new post. I got my EasyCap USB 2.0 Capture Card thing to install, then installed the driver off the internet because the one provided on the disc does not work with Windows 7. I installed VS9 (came with the cap card) and it works fine. BUT. When I go to capture something with the cap card it says No Input Signal or Signal Unclear. Also, if I go in to change the Audio/Video Capture settings, it does not show that the cap card is inserted. However, the preview of my tv will pop up just fine on the little preview box. It just won't capture it, as I mentioned earlier. Also, I do have the latest DirectX. I have also tried Compatibility on VS9, but that doesn't change anything. Would this problem be caused by my use of outdated VideoStudio software or from the cap card itself? And if you know, please tell me you know how to fix it...anything short of getting a new VideoStudio would be great because I don't have 60 bucks to spend at the moment...(building a car and whatnot XD). If you think I have not presented my problem clearly enough, please feel free to ask me more specific questions. Any help on this matter is GREATLY appreciated.

Hi Buki,
To be honest here it all sounds a bit hopeless! VS9 wasn't even rated to run on Vista let alone Win7. Yeah I know you can run the compatibility mode but the difference between XP (which VS9 was rated for) and Win7 is huge! The chances of getting this kind of arrangement to work given the possibilities of mismatched drivers, obsolete software and different op systems etc have to be pretty low. I am not surprised some things work and other don't and I really don't hold out much hope for you getting to do so.
I just went from XP Pro to Win7 myself and whilst many things could be made to work with endless tweaking the bottom line was that anything to do with video meant I had to suck it up and upgrade...sorry I couldn't bring more joy to the table!

My goodness! I just posted this and the forum software censored me! You can't say suck as in "uck" with an "s"? Suck isn't always a bad word! Sheeesh!

Yep. That most definitely sucks. Well thanks anyway. I figured it would come down to that eventually. I just didn't want to wait lol.
