Canon Dc310 capture error VSX2 Failed to read DVD informatio

Post by cfmiT »

Hi I have a Canon DC310 and during my trip this Easter to London I used 3 of DVD double sided DVDs by TDK BUT, one side of one of the discs will not work in my VideoStudio X2. All of the other TDKs behaved as they should do and I now have the footage within my Corel VideoStudio X2

Side B keeps returning Failed to read DVD information. Report ID 0x80040901(2305)

Can anyone help me to get around this frustrating problem

I am fairly new to this camcorder business

Generally that will occur when there has been some kind of data corruption on the burning of the disc. It could be straight data corruption or it could be a failure to correctly finalise the disc... you DID finalise didn't you?!
Anyway, VS goes through the operating system to contact the firmware in the reader so that it can access the disc. This is a process that probably should never work but hey!... it usually does! VS is not a specialist software for reading discs so there is only a certain degree of glitch on the disc that it can tolerate.
Try using windows explorer to navigate to the disc. This will use a totally different system to try to access it. If you can then drag the file on the disc across to the hard drive to a dedicated folder. Then try to navigate to that folder with VS and see if it will import.

Repeat with any other DVD reading/copying/burning software you have on your computer.

If still no joy then go to the DVDRepairTips link in my signature.
