Templates X2 vs X3
In X2, after adding a video file, adding chapters to it the next step was choosing templates. Just in the text menu, there are 29 possible choices. Those templates can be modified by choosing the personalize option, under presentation there are 10 different choices from 2 to 10 titles either for the main menu (I place on a same DVD from 8 to 12 different videos, each one having 4 to 8 chapters) or for the chapter titles for each video. I did not find this option in X3. When I upgrade from X2 to X3 I've been told everything already in X2 was in X3. Thank you in advance for your help. Lyz

Corel altered the burning module to something we did not recognise. They realised their mistake and so have given a FREE copy of MovieFactory 7 SE to anyone who does not already have MovieFactory installed on their computer. Please check the Get More Button.

Re: Templates X2 vs X3
I downloaded MF7 SE from VSX3 as mentionned in your reply, installed it and tried it. MF7 has the choice of templates I want but none of those templates allow me to insert a background image, eaven from those included in MF7. I get the message : Cannot insert the file to the background image. Maybe it is because I've not been able to update this version of MF7. When I tried to installed patches I downloaded from the Corel site, the message I got was : Upgrade to retail version to install patch. I've also tried to find written instruction or tutorial on MF7 and didn't find anything that could help me. By the way, I got the link to download MF7 in the Do more tab. Was I at the wrong place; didn't find anything in the Get more tab. Thanks. Lyz

With the program open and your video file added click next and then click the Edit tab. Click the little blue square with the down arrow head in it and then you can choose "Select a backgroung image for this menu". Perhaps the format of the image that you tried to load was not compatible. Try it with any jpg on your system. It will take anyof the following: *.gif;*.jpg;*.png;*.tif;*.bmp;*.rle;*.jpeg;*.jpe;*.tiff;*.jp2;*.jpc;*.j2k;*.tga;

Re: Templates X2 vs X3
Thamks for your help. That's what I did. I'm used with this procedure as I already used it with MF6 and VS2. The problem is that this feature is no longer offered in VSX3 and the solution offered by Corel is to download a free version of MF7SE offered in VSX3. With this version, I tried to download either the backgrounds Jpeg already in the version of MF7SE I download or some of my own jpeg images and none is working. One more time Mitchel thank you for your help.

Re: Templates X2 vs X3
Do you create a video file from your project then close VS x3? Do you then open DVD MF 7 SE as a stand alone program then go to create DVD load your video file then click next. If so you should get the screen that has the option shown in the attached screenshot. Just click the circled icon and that should give you the background choice. If thiss doesn't work then i can only suggest that you have a corrupt install of DVD MF7 so would suggest that you uninstall completely including going into the registry and re-installing. I would download a new copy just to be sure that your copy didn't get corrupted when it was downloading.
Here's the screenshot mentioned above:

Re: Templates X2 vs X3
That's exactly what I do. The video files I use have been edited with VSx3. I open DVD MF7SE as a stand alone program and when I get to the Background image/video with the mention (No background selected) whatever the mpg file I try to get (the files included with MF7 or my own pictures) I always received the same result (Cannot insert the file to the background) It's not the first time I use this function and I've never been any problem with previous versions VSx2 or MF6. I have uninstalled MF7SE, reinstalled with a new downloaded copy, uninstalled and reinstalled VSX3. I've tried 3 times always with the same result. On my opinion, the MF7SE version Corel is offering to compensate for the alteration they made to the burning module in VSX3 might have a bug. I've been using the function I'm having problem with many times for the 3 ou 4 past years for a certain type of project and never had any problem. Maybe upgrading to X3 was not the right thing to do for me.

Re: Templates X2 vs X3
MovieFactory 7 SE is NOT MovieFactory 7 Pro.
If you already have MovieFactory 6 then the likelihood is that MovieFactory 6 may be better suited to your needs.
Corel never intended to give MovieFactory 7 away to purchasers of VideoStudio X3, it came with its own authoring program DVD Factory. However it was a big mistake and Corel soon realised how unpopular it was. In an effort to rectify that mistake they have given away free copies of MovieFactory 7 SE to anyone who does not already have MovieFactory.

Re: Templates X2 vs X3
Sorry if my bad English lead to a misunderstanding. However trying to work with MF7 I realized that MF6 is doing exactly what I need. So for that kind of project I'm doing, I'll work with MF6 and VS12. Your help was also appreciate as it leads me steps forward working with those softwares. I'll also continue using VS3 for other types of video editing and learn from all those tutorials you offer to the beginners like I am. Thank you one more time for your help. Lyz
