VS X3 No Valid Content on Import Digital Media

Post by dcdowden »

I am unable to import some previously created DVD's using VS X3. I have been able to import a couple of DVD's, but I have several other DVD's that VS X3 reports 'No Valid Content' when I go through the Import Digital Media. I select the VIDEO_TS folder either on my hard drive or on a burned disk and I get the error message. I am able to play the DVD on both my computer and on regular DVD player. Any idea what is going on here? I created some of these DVD's using VS X2.
Thanks,
Doug

Hi Doug

Did Vs create the DVD.s ?????????

I don’t know what’s going on here but as a work-round

Save the dvd disc content to your hard drive.
Re-name the Vob files with the extension Mpg

Import to the timeline

Trevor,
Some of the DVD's that won't import were created with VS X2. A couple were created by Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 (VideoWave10). When I tried to import using VS X2, I got a more specific error message so this problem may exist prior to X3. The X2 error message says:
Failed to read DVD information.
Report ID: 0x80040901(2305)

I was able to import the DVD using VideoWave10. I will try your workaround with renaming the VOB files. That would be quicker than going through another piece of software.
Thanks,
Doug

Trevor,
Renaming the VOB files to .mpg works fine for me. Thanks for the tip.

Hi Doug

Glad that worked

By the way, have you manually updated Direct X, there is a link at the top of this forum.
The update is in three parts, Download, Extract files then Install extracted files.

Trevor,
I just installed the Direct X Updates and I still have the original problem. So it looks like I will use the work-around you provided.
Thanks,
Doug
