Are you playing analogue 8mm or Hi8 tapes on the camera? If so, Video Studio since version 11 will not capture. Corel changed the capture plug-in and it does not work capturing from analogue source material using firewire, either from a Sony Digital 8 or a mini DV camcorder as a passthrough device... You should try using either Windows Movie Maker or a small freeware program called WinDV... (windv.mourek.cz)

Hi Ken
I am using mini dv.
I tried windows live movie maker and I receive the same problem.
Is it possibly that the problem is in the firewire card (he is old), in spite of that windows does not identify in him problem ?

It could be your problem -- or at least it could be a hardware problem if Windows Movie Maker is also not working properly. But you would need to test out your camera and the firewire cable as well. If you have a friend with a firewire card, then test out your cable and camera on that other computer. And if possible, borrow or buy another firewire cable to see if that makes any difference. Sometimes, in addition, the firewire card comes a little bit out of its socket inside the computer. So if you feel comfortable about opening your computer and taking off the case, you could do that and press the firewire card downwards to make sure it is firmly seated in the motherboard.
