Or a harder bug to correct than the others. It's been months since the last update with constant guarantees by the technical support people that a third patch is on the way. Let us not make assumptions about the motives behind some fixes over others, it just lends itself to negative feelings that may or may not be necessary. Best to wait and find out.

I wanted to add my voice to the growing list of unhappy users. I have used Paint Shop Pro as my preferred editing tool from the days of PSP v6! I have now shelved PSP X3 and am using another program because I canot rely on PaintShop any more. This most basic bug (cut & paste and lose pixels) should never have passed a beta test, and yet here we are many months after release and it is still not addressed. Sorry guys - this was my last Corel purchase.

Re: Multiple Issues- slow startup, cut/paste quirks, and mor
They didn't miss this during the beta test. It wasn't beta tested. Personally I'll wait to see what happens before X4 and after X4 before deciding how I will purchase from Corel this time around. There are a lot of larger problems not yet addressed and I'm not ready to believe its because of lack of trying. If they don't fix these issues before X4 then yes I'm not going to deal with them. If they fix it but X4 also doesn't beta and turns out just as bad then I will also stop dealing with them.
But I wasn't too upset with X2 so X3 is the first big disappointment that I've had to deal with so I can wait and see before making a decision.

Re: Multiple Issues- slow startup, cut/paste quirks, and mor
I use PSP since version 7 and I see the version X3 as the biggest desaster Corel ever delivered. They did not solve several problem within half a year. What a shame.
I first did not want to buy the X3 because I could not see any advancement for me but then I had to buy it because of grafical problems in Windows 7. The result is that I do not have this problem anymore but I have a lot of other problems caused by PSP X3.
I hope to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Re: Multiple Issues- slow startup, cut/paste quirks, and mor
I agree X3 is a real mixed bag for many of us at the moment - new features sure, but several issues, some of which have been show stoppers.
I'd stopped using it for months, and had bought Pixelmator on the Mac instead (which has fantastic real-time GPU powered effects and filters etc)....but since the selection bug workaround was discovered a couple of weeks back I have been using X3 again more and more.
Familiarity with a program is a big draw - I just get stuff done quicker with PSP. That and the 30" monitor on the windows box is just so much nicer to use for image editing than the cheap rubbish I bought for the Mac

Re: Multiple Issues- slow startup, cut/paste quirks, and mor
I contacted Corel about this issue over seven months ago and after several emails, including a screen cast of the problem, I got a final reply:
I am longing for the days of Jasc as I have used PSP since the first version and this is the only one which I've had any real problem with. And with such a fundamental problem like this I would have expected it to have been priority one for Corel to fix and update ASAP.
I will NOT upgrade until I have confirmation that this basic flaw is corrected, and to be honest I believe that all of us should receive a free version for the absolute disaster that X3 has been.
Well, it has been silent since then and I have consequently hardly used X3 since - a complete waste of a so called "upgrade" from X2.We have been able to reproduce the issue and it has been reported. There may be an update to fix the issue and we will let you know you it becomes available.

Re: Multiple Issues- slow startup, cut/paste quirks, and mor
Sadly, the patch ver. 3 for PSP X3 doesn't fixed this ugly pixel bug. Waiting for patch ver.4, meanwhile I'm using this small script trick to avoid destroying my pixel-based web layouts.
This is really annoying bug, I'm working on PSP since ver. 7 from Jasc, and this never happened before.
About this script trick:
- is there any chance to tweak this method from DJ, to not to promote selection to a new layer after pressing CTRL+D?, then will have for example
two key bindings - one DJ's, and another one - that is not promoting selection to a new layer.
Waiting for any news. This bug is horrible...

I hope they come up with a fix for this bug soon. Working around it is a major drain on my time. Is there *any* news? It's almost unusable.

Re: Multiple Issues- slow startup, cut/paste quirks, and mor
AFAIK Corel was made aware of the issue back in April, certainly when I had another go at support in Sep/Oct I was told it was a known issue and politely told to drop it.
In my opinion, they can't fix it so don't expect a resolution for this, and if it were somehow to come it would be as a result of a partial re-write and packaged as X4. Upgrade fee, please.
I'm a developer myself and have previous experience of trying to cajole an ancient (1996) third party component whose developer had long been lost through multiple acquisitions - sound familiar anyone? - into working with modern hardware and operating systems. It was horrendous, and even crazy things like what printer driver the customers used would affect whether this wretched spreadsheet component generated memory leaks or not...
Anyway, it would not surprise me if the Corel coders are finding themselves in a similar situation, where an old underlying code base is throwing up strange compatibility issues with modern hardware and operating systems.
It's not clear how many people it affects - certainly there are a whole bunch of us here that have been hit by it, but there could be many thousands out there that don't experience it, or indeed don't edit images the same way and have therefore not noticed it.
From a commercial stand point the cost/benefit of resolving this by clean-sheeting great chunks of code for a probable minority of users who have reported this is not in our favour...
So, I wouldn't recommend waiting for a resolution - learn to live with it, or migrate to a different solution

No April Fools joke ... Got word today that Corel fixed this bug with a patch applied over Service Pack 4. See PSP X3 KB article 000005465 - In some cases, pixels along the bottom edge of a selection are dropped. Thanks to Corel for fixing this!!

Yep they did, and it works too
I had a pm from a Corel employee a couple of days ago and she sent me that partial patch, and it works, so now I won't have any more trouble with my X3 scripts - I'm one happy camper
Hugs,
Joanne

Wick, thank you for the link, that has fixed X3 for me too - wonderful!wick wrote:No April Fools joke ... Got word today that Corel fixed this bug with a patch applied over Service Pack 4. From my perspective this was the biggest issue and it is fabulous to have it finally resolved.
