Hi.....
When I plug my DV camcorder in for capture, the settings read:
AVI Type 1
If I go into the menu and "project properties" and select AVI with "NO COMPRESSION" will this have an effect on the resolution at all, or since im just transfering the image, it will not mean anything? I know that after the capture i must make the project settings match the video settings. match each other, just wanted to know if I left that with no compression during capture if it would have an impact.
Thanks, Dan
DV-AVI Type 1 OR Uncompressed?

The video quality will be no better than native DV format. If you select NO COMPRESSION, you are asking UVS to take the DV data, decompress it, and store that. You'd only be wasting disk space.
The DV format we are talking about is DV25, which with its 5:1 compression comes in at 25Mbps, or roughly three times the highest-quality DVD bitrates. Compressed using either DV Type 1 or DV Type 2, this consumes ~13GB/hour. If you decide to go to uncompress AVI, you'll use ~65GB of disk space per hour.
