WinDVD 2010 Pro does not play any media

Post by drakenabarion »

Hi all,

I just bought WinDVD 2010 Pro, but I am having difficulties getting it to play any type of media.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software. I have uninstalled any Codec packs I had installed, disabled my TV tuner card, Used a DVI connection to my monitor instead of a HDMI connection, etc, then uninstalled and reinstalled the software. Still it will not play any media.

When I drag and drop an MP3 to the player window, it begins to play less than half a second of the file (I hear the beginning) then stops playing and unloads the file. When I try to play a Blu Ray disk, it reads the drive briefly, the hardware decoding kicks in (screen flickers), and then it unloads.

I have installed the most up-to-date service packs, but this changes nothing.

Any help with this would be most appreciated. I would rather get this fixed instead of having to use another program, as I like the GUI and (on paper at least), this would have the best up scaling for DVD.

Many thanks in advance for your help with this.

Oh to add to this, the player main window is the only window to load. Clicking on Tools, Open or DVD does not bring up any other options or even change whats on screen. I can bring up Info and Corel Guide but nothing else happens. See attachment for what I get when I open it.

Have you tried using the program with all your startup programs disabled? Try it with your sound card disabled as well and see what happens.

I reinstalled windows. It was probably due for a spring clean as I was beginning to have unexplained slowdowns. Since things are much easier to back up these days it was the least frustrating answer.

However, I can assume that the issue was related to the overlay menus. Something must have been clashing with them. I dont know what and I tried uninstalling as much as possible, disabling hardware, etc. But it works after a clean install so I am happy.

I just purchased WinDVD 2010 PRO and have the SAME problem. License activated and open the program. No way to configure sound. Tools tab is non-functioning. DirectX is current. It WILL play video but no sound and no way to configure sound. Previous version had MUCH more ease of use and control! How do I get a refund?!
