OH, and for your information, the Advanced Edit function of VS X3 Pro (the 2010 portion?) is just as bad as the "Easy Edit" portion of VS X3 Pro in my opinion.

Why? Because, as I mentioned a couple of posts ago, the Corel Advanced Edit software will not display during the capture portion. I cannot see what is being captured until I quit capture. That makes it just too difficult to use efficiently.

So this is one more clue for anyone that is willing to help:

I get no (black screen) video display for clips in the "Easy Edit" module (but the video display works in Advanced Edit module). I also get no video display in the Advanced Edit module during capture. Once again, the instant playback target is properly set to the display window and always has been.

It seems that you're having problems understanding that VS Pro X3 is not the same as the Easy Edit which is VS Express 2010. They are 2-separate programs. Prior to releasing VS Pro X3, Corel released VS 2010 and VS Express 2010, which they also bundled with their flop of a suite Digital Studio 2010.

I think that your lack of display is attributed to Win7 and it's problems with Firewire (if that's what you're using), or even your video card. I read some web reviews where recommendations to replace that model of video card were made. I use a much less powerful Nvidia card, and don't have any problems with it. Have you manually went to Nvidia's website and checked for any updates, patches or SP's ? When I first purchased my video card, I went to their website and discovered that the card did not come with the most current drivers, so downloaded and installed the most recent. Would not hurt to check...;)

I don't have a means, and don't want any, to capture to my laptop which runs Vista. However on my desktop running WinXP HP SP3, I've not experienced the display problems you mention. That would tend to eliminate there being a bug in VS's capture.

Fuzzy images can be caused by improperly sized images being used. If you are inserting images that are smaller than that of your project frame sizes, then they will be enlarged to match the project's size. This will produce fuzzy or pixelated images. If you're using images that match your project frame size AND are applying pan/zoom to them, again they will be enlarged beyond their 100% size, and become pixelated. You need to use an image editor, to size and prepare your images before inserting them. Myself and some others have had good luck with just inserting photos taken from our digital cameras, without resizing. Just know that VS does not do a good job at image manipulation, it is a video editor not image. So resizing or scaling your images is best done outside of VS.
