I recently purchased Moviefactory v6 STANDARD (on disk with serial number). I was told on this board that in order to do more of what I wanted, I should purchase the upgrade.
So, I purchased a diskette version of MF v 6 PLUS on Amazon which I THOUGHT WAS THE UPGRADE.
When I went to install v6 PLUS, I rceived a message to uninstall the install wizard for the standard version. As I attempted to uninstall the i-wizzard, I received the following error message: "Error reading set-up initialization file."
1-So, how can I install v6PLUS?
2-Also, when --and if-- I finally get v6PLUS installed, what about patches I see mentioned on the board?
3-Can I export files in MP4 format?
4-Finally, can I import files in MP4 format?
(I ask about MP4 because this is the file type produced by the "Flip Video Camera.")
I am using XP on a plain vanilla computer.
I thank you in advance.

Re: Installing MovieFactory 6 PLUS
David,
I do not have MF6 but MF7 pro.
According to the Corel web site MF6 does not import nor export mp4 files.
MF7 Pro does import MP4 files. Export however seems to be limited to avi, mov, qt, mpg (1 & 2), m2t, wmv & asf, No mp4.
I wonder if the upgrade you were advised to get was the MF 6 plus HD Power Pack shown here, "http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 0954650114" I do not see were mp4's are discussed on this web site, neither import nor export for the MF 6 plus HD power Pack.
It could be that someone was advising to upgrade to MF7 (pro) which can be read about here, "http://store1.corel.com/corel/product/i ... rod3430136". Note that this is the Australian version of the Corel web site. I "understand" that MF 7 Pro purchased through the Australian site works fine on US based PC's. Note however that MF 7 pro does not seem to support the export of MP4's It does however import them. If you choose to go down this route, MF 7 Pro, be sure to be on the look out for the content CD or down load as well as the bonus software CD or download.
Hope this helps you out.

Re: Installing MovieFactory 6 PLUS
The main issue is how do I install MF v6PLUS?
Is it indeed an upgrade to MF 6 STANDARD?
I cannot for some reason uninstall the basic vesion.
Should I simply try to delete all MF 6 files and then try to install?

Re: Installing MovieFactory 6 PLUS
The plus version is an advanced version to the standard. Upgrading generally applies to the price discount when purchased from Corel. It's been long enough that I don't recall if they allowed upgrading from the Standard version to the plus. At any rate, to install first uninstall your standard version in the normal manner, using your system's add/remove programs. Then try to install your plus version. If the version you purchased from Amazon is an upgrade, it should ask for the serial number of your standard version, as well as the serial number of your plus version. Is it indeed an upgrade to MF 6 STANDARD?
