Hi,Ken Berry wrote:First off, you have downloaded a DivX file, and although it uses the .avi extension, it is in fact an mpeg-4 type video. But the real problem is that for whatever reason, VS X3 does not appear to support DivX. Previous versions did, and in fact an old version of the DivX codec was installed as part of those earlier versions of VS (I think it was DivX version 5.2.1 or something close to that). However, as I say, that no longer appears with VS. And I for one have not been able to get more recent versions of DivX to work with X3.
On the other hand, if you do a Google search for the freeware equivalent of DivX, namely XVid, and download and install that, you may have better luck. I know it works on my X3. Let us know...
Might be some good news with the DIVX functionality using X3 out shortly. An update is due out 17 May.
I have done a little test with update installed.
10min MPG captured off TV card put into X3 and saved again as MPG - File size 572.926kb
Converted to DIVX using V8 of Divx Converter (HD720P 1024x576)- File size 136,473kb
Imported the DIVX file (had to change extension from .divx to .avi. All good I was able to play, edit and scrub timeline - no problems.
