Hi,
I have a vsp with many short video tracks, each with an associated overlay video track. I would like to move the tracks around, but even with ripple editing enabled, the overlay track does not move resulting in all the video track locations being inappropriately moved. Is there a way to link the primary video track to the associated overlay track so I can move both at the same time?
Thanks
Clement

Re: Moving Video Track and Associated Overlay Track
VS does not allow locking tracks together in that manner. With Ripple Editing, all overlay tracks (including the title, and audio tracks) are tied to the Main Video Track. You can move the clips around in their tracks, however when you make changes to the clips in the Main Video track, the clips in the overlay tracks that have Ripple Editing enabled, will move accordingly to stay in-sync with the video clip in the Main Video Track.

Re: Moving Video Track and Associated Overlay Track
What I do when I want to move the entire project is to insert a color block in the main track. For example - say I want to move everything 5 seconds to the right. With Ripple Editing enable on all tracks I insert a color block that is 5 seconds long. If I want to move the main track back the 5 seconds I simply disable Ripple Editing on all tracks and remove the color block. You can configure this many different ways to move things around, by enabling/disabling certain tracks and insert/removing clips on the main time line.

Re: Moving Video Track and Associated Overlay Track
Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunatley, when you move a video track that has an associated overlay track you get a message, "This will break the relative positions of the clips." The only alternative I have found is to remove any overlay tracks before moving a video track.

Hi Clement
When you say moving the video track, do you mean repositioning a video clip.
That is moving a video clip down the timeline to a different position.

Yes, when Ripple Editing is turned on for that particular track. That is why I said:Unfortunatley, when you move a video track that has an associated overlay track you get a message, "This will break the relative positions of the clips."

Re: Moving Video Track and Associated Overlay Track
Trevor,
Yes, I do mean repositioning a video track to make it appear earlier or later.
BL,
I did try various settings with ripple editing and inserting and removing clips but was not able to find anything that would keep all the overlay tracks in sync with the video track once a clip had been repositioned.
Thanks
Clement
