Audio Editor Suggestions, Please?

Post by boxy »

Hi. Forgive me if I have made a mistake starting this topic but I tried searching +audio +editor and came up with over 2000 replies.

I need an audio editor. My demands are not large at all so I don't need anything complicated or too sophisticated. I tried Audacity and it can't do the one thing I really need, which is being able to play the audio track and adjust the EQ while it's playing, similar to what I can do with a tape player and mixing board. thanks.

I done a quick search for audio editors and found 1 that has an EQ, where it appears you can adjust the frequencies on-the-fly. It's not free, but not expensive.. http://www.goldwave.com/index.php. I think DVDDoug uses this one..

Yes, I use GoldWave and all of the effects have a "preview" mode where you can listen while making adjustments. When you are satisfied with the setting you can "apply" the effect.

But, you cannot actually adust it in real time... You can't boost the bass at the beginning of the song and then boost the treble at the end as it's playing...

I checked out the GoldWave page and it's editor. $50 for a lifetime is not a bad price, although at my age i might not get my money's worth. :)

I'm just looking to adjust the the EQ as I listen and once I get the exact sound I want, then I will apply it to the entire song.

It would be easy (I think) to accomplish what you say at the end of your post by have two identical audio files on top of each other. One would be bassy and the other trebly. Slowly fade one out and bring the other one up at the same rate and the song would go from bassy to trebly.
