Video Studio X3 Disk Creation Menu Problem

Post by Wallyl »

When creating chapters for my disk creation, I am unable to recall the chapters already created. There does not appear to be a file that has been created other than the original that contains the video. When using share and then create disk everything is set to the beginning with not way to recall. Am I missing a step somewhere? If so what?

Are you using DVD Factory 2010 or the replacement DVD MovieFactory 7 SE? In either case you will need to first create a video file from your project. I would also not worry about creating chapters in VS, save that for the DVD authoring program. If you have placed chapter cues in VS, try running the Auto Add Chapters/Add Scenes as Chapters. In a test I just ran, I placed Chapter Cues in VS X3, rendered the project. Then inserted the video file (DVD MPEG-2), into MF7, MF6, VS X2, and then finally in DVD Factory 2010. Each program recognized the Chapter Cues I had placed in VS X3 editor, and placed the chapters in the appropriate places. However the Chapter names did not carry over.

I think what you're doing is using your project file (VSP) to build your menus and burn to disc. Try the workflow we have been recommending for some time now. Create a video file first (Share Create Video File), then open your burning program, and insert the newly created video file. From there add your chapters using the Add Scenes as Chapters. The chapter cues should be seen and used by DVD MovieFactory, DVD Factory 2010 and the burn module of the earlier versions of VS.

Also you don't provide any information as to what format of video files you're working with, are they SD (Standard Def) or HD (High-Def), AVCHD, DV, MPEG-2.

Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry that I neglected to add the information to help find a solution.
I am now using Video Studio X3. Operating system is Windows 7, 350-GByte HD and 3.00 GB Ram, 32 bit OS I had used Video Studio2 in the past without having a problem creating a menu driven DVD. VS2 did not work in Windows 7. That's why I upgraded to VSX3.
I am trying now to create a DVD in a standard defination. If I understand you after adding the video clips instead of trying to create the menu in the create disk I should save it to a video file first. VS2 did not have the direct link to MF so I didn't need it. I'm not an expert I've creating a lot of DVD's and your reply brings back a memory of an earlier version of MF that I used to created menu driven DVD's, at that time I used a complete video file.

I've read the info as requested. I am now reporting what happened when I did as you suggested.
I created the file and using Movie Factory, created a menu system and then successfully burned a DVD. However while burning there was no progress bar so I wasn't even sure it was burning. I waited enough time for me to expect the DVD was finished. (DVD did not eject). DVD did burn maybe I didn't wait long enough (Over 2 hours for a 1-hour and 50 minute movie, 8.5 GB disk). I have a couple of questions that I could not find answers to. I would like to remove the music that plays when the disk menu appears. Is there a way to play just 1 menu item (I have 12) and go back to the main menu, also how can I set the menu up to return to main menu after movie plays. None of these question are addressed in the on-line manual for MF. I chatted with Corel without success they advised me to call tech support and pay for answers.
Frustrating, I had no problem when I used VSX2. MF is easier to use but I can't find answers. Is the MF included with VSX3Pro the latest version.
