Capturing Errors 17101

Post by martyl »

I'm using a JVC DV camcorder, using Videostudio 9 to capture from the tape. I've set Videostudio to capture to DV, capturing 60 minutes of the tape. This is set so that it detects scenes, breaking up the capture. Once the taping had finished, I got an error which needed Videostudio to shut down. When I opened it up again, the majority of the files that I had won't open. I get the messages

File reading error [17101:1:43]
Catastrophic failure [17101:70:2]

Any ideas on whats causing this? The files range from 60mb to 1.2Gb.

Hi,

I'd double check to ensure DV type 1 AVI file.

If you have that, try DV Type 2.

I've tried using DV AVI 1 and 2, both with the same error.

Marty,
just a shot but what dv codec is being used by VS? The error messages clearly (at least to me) that VS is having a problem with reading the avi files. can you look at any of the file's properties to see if the codec is indicated?
