PSPPX3 Very Slow

Post by sjhpubs »

Hello all.

I remember when I upgraded to PSPP X2, I found that it was much slower in starting up and processing than PSPP X was. Somewhere on this site (or the Corel Knowledgebase) there was a post saying that certain files (database files) from the previous version had to be deleted in order to correct the problem and there were directions for doing that. It worked with X2.

Is there a similar fix for X3 that anyone knows about? It actually does not take an extremely long time to load, although longer than I would like, but I have found that working in the express lab, and then in the regular editor, almost all the time I get a very prolonged white screen. At some point the program crashes and I have to re open it. I have tried re-booting, closing other programs, and nothing seems to work. I really like a lot of the features of X3, but at this point it's really not usable for me the way it currently runs.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Sandy

There are two threads you can try.
1. Troubleshooting your computer
2. Creating a Video Editing Profile. (OK your not editing a video but the advice is the same)

So, are you saying that, unlike when I installed PSPP X2, there is no possibility of conflict between the database files created in the older version and the X3 version?

I have PSPX2 and X3 both installed at the same time and do not have any conflicts.

Both http://corel.custhelp.com/app/answers/d ... _id/762111 and http://corel.custhelp.com/app/answers/d ... _id/762173 contain instructions for deleting the Organizer database files and letting PSP create fresh ones.
Both X2 and X3 use the same Organizer database.
In the instructions referenced above you will see the process for deleting the PSPP XI database. Even if you don't have XI installed, you should check to see if those files exist. They are often the main cause of the slow down and may be left over from an old trial version of either PSPP XI or Snapfire.

OK, thanks. I will try this second fix first and see what happens. These were the instructions that I found when upgrading from X1 to X2, and they worked very well. So I will try this again. If I still have a problem, and I know I will have some issues for a while--my laptop needs to be upgraded in order to get full performance from either X2 or X3, then I will follow the more detailed instructions above--and I might do that anyway when I have some more time since it looks like that's a way to make other things run faster as well.

Thank you both. I will let you know the outcome.
