SO - big question is....Is it any good??

Post by lakewud »

Hello all

Simple question - hoping will generate a handful of decent replies.

Please recommend a very good editing package. Would Videostudio pro x3 fit the bill? Or is there a better alternative...( for the same monies ).

Just i hear that pro x3 has problems - basically doesnt run perhaps as smoothly as its the version it replaced. Would anyone agree with that.

Any advice muchly welcomed. I realise perhaps that a lot depends on the machine your running ( im using windows 7, quadcore..any more details escape me at present..but a decent amount of ram at any rate and a top notch graphics card ).

Just wanting to get a very good videoediting package..lets say - a superior upgrade to what im currently used too, videostudio 10+.

Advice welcome.

I do not think if you did a search of this forum, you would find any recommendations of what is a good editing program and what is not, be it VS or any other program. However, since you asked, I have VS X2 and I will not upgrade to x3 simply based on my experience with x2 and what I have read here about x3. All programs in this price range have a 30 day trial and I think most have forums. Take a look at those forums. What kind of discussions are there in the forums. Keep in mind that a large forum may not be a better forum it may simply mean there are a lot of problems with its particular product. Good luck

In a nutshell, think of the program as two halves.
1st half - editing. This is more powerful than previous versions and has more goodies including "Moving Paths" - this is something this forum have spent years nagging at Corel / Ulead / Intervideo to include which they have now done so.
That is but one improvement there are many others.
2nd half - Authoring. Corel have acknowledged that in this version they got it wrong. However they have acted upon the advice given by the Admin Staff from the Web Board and done something about it. They have given a free copy of DVD MovieFactory 7 SE to anyone who has purchased VSX3 and does not already possess a copy.

I don't know what kind of answers you were looking for when posting to a VideoStudio forum! Of course most of us use it and are happy with it, or we wouldn't be here!

With that said, I think X3 works very good, and the enhancements are well worth the upgrade from previous versions. However, as Steve pointed out, the burning module is not very good. MF7 has gone a long way to solving that problem.
