DVDMF7 SE and Surround sound

Post by Roberto »

Hello,

I have several music videos (made with VS X3) and I want to prepare a DVD with a surround sorround using DVDMF7 SE (the one provided for VS X3 users).
Shall I render every video with the surround enabled, and then just import them in DVDMF7 ?
Is this enough to get a surround sound ?
Or is there a way to import the music videos rendered in stereo and enable a surround option in DVD MF7 (which basically i haven't found yet...) ?

Thanks for the answers

Cheers

I can't directly help you because I have an older version of Movie Factory without surround sound... The procedure would be to create your Dolby AC3 surround track in Video Studio, and then author/burn with Movie Factory.

The truth is, most of the time you are better-off leaving it as 2-channel stereo and using the Pro Logic options in your Home Theater receiver to decode the Pro Logic or for the "soundfield" surround-effects.

However, I have taken a mono concert soundtrack and "manually" created a 5.1 channel soundtrack... I used an audio editor (I used GoldWave ($50 USD)) to edit and "re-mix" the audio into 6 separate WAV files. (For example, I panned the talking-parts to front-center, and I panned the applause to the rear channels, used an equalizer to "spread-out" the music, added some reverb to the rear channels, etc.) Then, WAVtoAC3encoder (FREE!!!) to create a 5.1 channel AC3 track and DVD-Lab ($100 - $250 USD) to author the DVD.

There is a website called SurroundByUs.com that's dedicated to converting stereo to surround. (These guys use different software that I used.)
