How can I get an image in a second vid track to shrink/move?
I have an image (a powerpoint slide as a jpeg) that I want to show on the screen full size, then have it shrink down and move to the corner of the screen, exposing the video behind it that is in the main video track. Is there a way to do that without having to make 50 copies in sequence and move each one by hand a little bit? Pan and zoom doesn't do what I want, because the image stays in one place but it moves the focus. I want the opposite: the focus stays the same but the image shrinks and moves. Any thoughts out there?

You don't say what version of VS you are using, but if you have X3 then take a look at one of the NewBlu FX PiP effect. It should do what you want. If you have any other version of VS then I am sorry to say there is not an easy way to do it. You may want to check the tutorials section for workarounds.

VSX3 has the New Blue Effect moving paths, something we fought long and hard for.
If you have an earlier version of VideoStudio then the best we were able to come up with (short of purchasing the New Blue effects add in) was

Thanks, Jeff and Steve! I have X2. I see some new blue film effects, but I guess you are talking about some additional ones included in X3? Thanks for the tip - maybe an upgrade is in order. It sounds like MediaStudio would also have this feature. I have debated going to that before, and if I keep needing the next release of VideoStudio to get what I need, I wonder if I wouldn't be better off just moving to MediaStudio...

Yes, the one we are talking about is different from the New Blue ones in X2... You can also buy the whole New Blue package with that particular effect, plus a number of others, from the New Blue website, though IMHO they are a bit expensive...!
As for Media Studio, yes, it did indeed have moving paths natively included, but it is now a discontinued product -- and AFAIK it does not do high definition video...

MSP8 does support HDV, however not the newer AVCHD video formats. As for Media Studio, yes, it did indeed have moving paths natively included, but it is now a discontinued product -- and AFAIK it does not do high definition video..
