I have a completed film (in AVCHD format) burned to disc successfully. I would like to create an AVCHD folder to keep on the hard disk for future burning with Roxio.(I presume this folder is equivalent to an iso image for standard video)
At the share stage "create AVCHD folders" and "create disc image" are both grayed out whether "create disc" is checked or not.
How can I activate this option?

Re: Create AVCHD folder in VS11.5
According to your signature block, you're using VS 11.5 +, which is not capable of creating or burning AVCHD folders. What version are you using, VS X2 or X3? Also please go to your User Control Panel and complete your system information for the web board. Since the board was upgraded the system information from the old board did not migrate to the new one..

Re: Create AVCHD folder in VS11.5
I've updated my system info now.
I'm still using VS11.5 - I wonder why the option for "create AVCHD folders" is there (albeit greyed out) if it's not available?
Is there another way of getting the file to hard disk for burning with a third party?

Re: Create AVCHD folder in VS11.5
Hi Sue
VS x3 was the first version that catered for creating an AVCHD folder. Are you burning to a standard def disk? If so you will be restricted to about a 30 min video. This is what is called a "hybrid". I don't use your version of VS but look to see if you can choose "Blu-Ray" when you have clicked "Create Disk" If you can choose BR and you can burn to a Blu-Ray folder. This will give you the same folder/file structure as an AVCHD folder. Use that folder named BDMV in the same way to burn subsequent copies, by choosing "Create data DVD" in your burner options.

Re: Create AVCHD folder in VS11.5
Thanks John - the "create Blu-ray folders" option is active.
I have a Blu-ray burner and Blu-ray disks, so I can do the full High Def for myself.
Will I be able to burn the BDMV to standard def disk? I ask this because if I want to give a copy to family and friends who have AVCHD players, it's very pricey to use Blu-ray disks. (I understand that 30 mins would be optimum)

Yes you can burn the BMDV folder to a standard disk, Just use any third party burner, choose "Create data DVD" navigate to your BDMV folder and select that. Burn the folder to the disk. Be aware though that to play these DVD's whoever you give them to must have a Blu-Ray player of PS3 Playstation. They will not play on a standard DVD player. That applies to any Hybrid Disk that you produce to.
