Video Studio Pro X-2 MPEG-4's Cause Crash

Post by mark9422 »

Hi
I recently added several MPEG-4 clips from a Flip Video Camera to my time line. (Video Studio Pro X2) When trying to play them in the Preview Window, the program constantly crashes. However, they seem to play fine while multi trimming the video. Several months ago, I added other clips from the same camcorder and they play with no issues. The only difference between the two sets of clips was that the most recent (the problem clips) were simply copied from the camcorder to a folder while the earlier clips (the "no problem clips") were copied to a folder using the Flip's software.

Any video in my time line that was captured from my Canon DV tape (standard definition) camcorder plays without issue.

I am running Win 7 and have installed all updates and patches for Video Studio Pro X2. I have plenty of memory and a 3.0 Ghz processor and lots of hard drive space.

Any Ideas?

Thank you very much.

X2 always seems to have had problems with the video straight out of the various Flip-type cameras, though from user reports, X3 seems to have corrected that. If using the Flip software to transfer the video to hard disk works, then I would simply use that and not worry too much about solving the mysteries of X2 whys and wherefores...
