Although I've used VS X2 to successfully produce both SD and HD video files, I hadn't actually tried producing a DVD directly from it.
Tried it the other day and it failed! It went through the motions of rendering the file and then burning a DVD, but the end result wasn't a playable DVD. The DVD shows a burn mark where it's been burnt, but the DVD just hangs when I try and play it on the computer or external player.
However, if I produce an ISO image using VS X2 and then burn it using CDBurnerXP, the DVD is good and plays.
Just no good if burnt directly from VS X2.
I'm using Windows 7 64 bit.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Ray D

First thoughts are "a faulty disk". Has it happened just the once?

Re: VideoStudio X2 won't burn DVD
FWIW, I never burn a disc using VS. Not because of any problems, but because I often burn multiple discs at different times. So I create DVD Folders in VS, then burn using Nero.
In other words, if you have a way that works keep doing it.

No, it's a repeatable problem - and nothing to do with the discs. It won't burn any project to either of my DVD writers, but will produce an ISO image which can be burnt using CDBurnerXP to discs from the same batch, on the same DVD writers.mitchell65 wrote:First thoughts are "a faulty disk". I was wondering if VideoStudio X2 had a problem accessing 64 bit DVD drivers.

Re: VideoStudio X2 won't burn DVD
I will give my same exact answer that I gave to another post with a similar problem:
What is your workflow? Are you going straight from the project in the timeline and clicking on Share>Create Disc? VS sometimes has problems with that workflow, especially in older versions.
It is recommended that, with your project in the timeline, you go to Share>Create Video File and render a DVD-compliant MPEG-2 file. When that is completed go back to your timeline and choose File>New Project (to clear the timeline). Now, with an empty timeline go to Share>Create Disc. At the burn stage you will insert your MPEG-2 file into the burning timeline, where you can proceed to burn your disc.
Give this process a try and let us know what happens.

Re: VideoStudio X2 won't burn DVD
Thanks Jeff - I'll try that. As I said above, I'm currently going through the stage of creating an ISO - which I then burn in another DVD burning app. I do usually make MPEG files anyway, so I'll try burning one to DVD in VideoStudio.

I had the same problem as you describe once and the only way that I was able to resolve it was to reinstall Windows XP. Tedious process but it has worked satisfactorily since.

Re: VideoStudio X2 won't burn DVD
I found that apps like nero or roxio interfered with Uleads burning modules, not VS but workshop and dvd movie factory, so it could be other writing programmes you have are causing the problem, particularly if you have the packet writing system installed.
