I am a licensed user of several ULead/Corel products. After upgrading my PC, I am having some serious remorse while trying to do my first major DVD project. I own Videostudio Pro X3 but do not enjoy using either of the DVD creation options.
I would love to install DVD WS2 but have two hurdles I am facing.
I am a licensed user of DVD WS2 but it was (unfortunately) an upgrade version. The Ulead Moviefactory CD I own that I upgraded from doesn't seem to want to install in Windows 7 land. Any thoughts/ideas on how to install my software?
If I did buy a boxed copy of DVD WS2 (I've seen it for cheap on the web), does it even run on Windows 7?
I realize the limitations of DVD WS2 but the pros outweigh the cons on this one for me...
Out of luck?

DWD WS 2 does not run on Windows 7
You can of course create either a dual boot XP/Windows 7 system or use Virtual PC / Virtual Box.
Please view our Microsoft Vista / Windows 7 forum.

Re: Out of luck?
Thanks for the reply. I was afraid this would be the answer. It was a great program but I guess it is time to move on.
In addition to a great interface and all of its features, the one thing I relied on heavily was the ability to burn ISO images to file within DVDWS2. This was convenient for archival purposes. If someone ever needed another copy of the DVD, I just located the ISO and had another copy ready for them in minutes.
Do you know of any Corel product (I cannot locate it in MovieFactory 7 SE or DVD Factory 2010) that allows the same functionality? I realize there is free software available to burn/rip ISO images but I was hoping to avoid another step.

Re: Out of luck?
All version of Video Studio and Movie Factory will burn both an ISO image file and also a DVD Folder (Video_TS) which is much teh same thing. It is found in the last page of the burning module in VSX2 and earlier, and in all versions of MF. The awful DVD Factory 2010 which came with VS X3 also allows it for standard definition DVDs...
In VSX2 and earlier, and all versions of MF, on the last page, if the choice does not appear by default, then to the right of the little window where you designate which burner you are using, there is a big downward point arrow. If you click on that, then both the choice to burn an ISO and/or DVD Folder will then appear.
I personally use the DVD Folder route all the time as I tend to use Nero to burn the actual disc. And also to check the DVD before actually burning it to disc. You can play such a Folder back in any software DVD player, whereas with an ISO file you have to mount it first with a program such as PowerISO, before you can play it.

Re: Out of luck?
Thanks again to everyone for your help on this thread.
I did find the ISO image option in MF7SE (hidden by default) in the show more output options (accessible by a double caret on the outside of the recording format dropdown).
I will look more into the Video Folders option too. It appears that is what is available via DVD Factory 2010. Since I was aware of the Video_TS structure on a DVD, I supposed I should have guessed that is what the "Video Folders" option entailed.

Re: Out of luck?
It's not Ulead/Corel, but I've "moved-on" to DVD-Lab ($100 - $250 USD). It runs on Win7, but unfortionately, it looks like developement on DVD-Lab has stopped too. And, it's only a DVD authoring program... It does not include an MPEG-2 or AC3 encoder. DVDStyler (FREE) looks like a powerful program, but I haven't tried it on a project yet.It was a great program but I guess it is time to move on...

For burning ISO files, ImgBurn is FREE, works on Win7, and is easy to use.the one thing I relied on heavily was the ability to burn ISO images to file within DVDWS2.
