a newbie question regarding proxy files...

Post by b1a1 »

Hi all,
I understand what proxy files are and how they work. If you disable proxy manager, can the video clips be copied into the X3 folder so they do not have to be relinked?
Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Hi b1a1,
As per my understanding you have to save the clip using smart package option ( File>smartproxy) . This will save the trimmed videos ( part of the original clip which you are using) to the project directory and you don't need to relink to the original clip then.
But if you use the same original clip to extract another sequence in a later stage make sure to save again using smart package. The only advantage I see with this option is you only save the parts you used in the project in the project file, while your actual footage is backed-up in the original location.
