Photos loading @ 100%
I have just recently purchased Paint Shop Pro X3 to replace/upgrade X2 Ultimate. What does one have to do to lock the image size to fit the screen when you open a photo in X3?? I have played with the preferences and get no result. I'm shooting with a Reble XTi and all of my photos load in at 100% no matter what I have tried. The more I try X3 the more disappointed I'm getting. There seems to be some of the functions missing that I used in X2 Ultimate (Clarify for one), at least I can't find it. When I got the boxed version of X2 ulltimate I got a user manual, with X3 boxed I did not. That is one of the reasons to buy a boxed version of software. I find myself reverting backed to X2 when working with photos so I don't have to zoom out from 100%. Can anyone give me a clue.

Clarify is now Local Tone Mapping.
As for the photos loading in at 100%....I've never been bothered by it enough to do anything about it. So I'm of no help there. But Clarify is now Local Tone Mapping. That, at least, I do know.

To get the image to load "fit to window" try File > Preferences > General Program Preferences > View Tab > New Images > check Auto Size

Re: Photos loading @ 100%
I hope that works, df, but it didn't help me.
I have that checked option checked by default and I still get the same result.
The first image I open sets the zoom factor to 24% but every other image automatically opens at 100% from there. I have to close all images before I can load another image to fit the window.
It's always only the first image (if no other images are open yet) that properly changes the zoom.

Re: Photos loading @ 100%
When working with photos fresh out of the camera in a temp directory, I click on the image and PSPP-X3 loads & brings up the image at full size (100%). "sometimes" If I already have PSPP open it brings up the first image to fit the screen after that it comes up at 100%. I have PSPP- X3 preferences set "Exactly" like PSPP-X2 ultimate and it comes up to fit the screen.. I appreciate the info about clarify that helps.

Re: Photos loading @ 100%
Hi,
I also dislike the lack of auto-resize behavior. That "New images / Auto size" button doesn't do diddly. I always open multiple files with the "File / Open" dialog box. I made a simple Fit To Window script that I use in the "Enable Pre-processing" box. Put it in the "Scripts-Restricted" folder and load it and check the box. Subsequent loads will only require you to re-check the box as the script will default to the last used script if you haven't used another Pre-process script. Works for me. If any one figures out how to do this easier, that would be great.

This has been reported as bug 2 months ago.The first image I open sets the zoom factor to 24% but every other image automatically opens at 100% from there.
I work for the Corel UK Support. I will not give technical support through this forum and my answer is only related to this thread.

Perhaps, as Tim says, it is something to do with how you are loading the images?

Re: Photos loading @ 100%
It's not how you're opening the images....technically. It's whether or not they are opened in windows or tabs.
When I have tabs turned on then every method available to me to open an image in Paint Shop Pro gives me this same problem. Only the first image is set to auto-size.
If I am using the regular MDI layout the window and image are resized to fit inside the workspace.
But I'm sure they are aware of this distinction since the bug-report was filed. But that just means we who like to use tabbed documents will have to wait, deal with it, or use a script as scallahan suggested.

I have just re-tested using Windows "Tabbed Documents" checked and then after restarting the program un-checked.LeviFiction wrote:It's not how you're opening the images....technically. It's whether or not they are opened in windows or tabs.
In both cases I can open 3 Images successively using File - Open and I have no problem with Image sizes.
They always fit my PSP desktop, using the full eidtor.

Re: Photos loading @ 100%
Well then it's not consistent across all systems.
I've tried all of these methods:
1 ) Using the Open menu item
2 ) Dragging them into the editor
3 ) Using "Open With" from explorer
4 ) Using the organizer
5 ) Dragging them on top of the icon
6 ) Opening them from another organizer program
7 ) Using the Recent Files menu option
8 ) Copy and paste
9 ) Double-clicking on image in explorer
Admittedly some of those would never have had a different outcome but wanted to cover my bases.
All result in the exact same behavior on my system. Only the first image opened is auto-sized.
So I don't know what's different between your system and mine but X3 refuses to load any subsequent image auto-sized to fit in the workspace. Unless...did you get the actual X3 Ultimate edition? Or did you get the ultimate package? They told me there was no difference between X3 and X3 ultimate version wise but maybe there is one.

I have never had this problem on any computer (at least 4) for all versions of PSP since X, using XP, Vista and Win7,LeviFiction wrote:Well then it's not consistent across all systems.

Strange.

@Levi Fiction
I have the same problem at work. However, on my Vista machine at home, I don't have this problem.
Could you check in the Preferences if you have ticked this one here:
Nevertheless, it doesn't change the fact that it was recognised as problem and has been logged as bug.

Yes, I mentioned earlier in response to df who suggested the same thing that that option is checked. And yes we know it's been logged, thank you.
