Setting To 16:9 Default

VideoStudio 11Plus
AVerMedia AVerTV HD DVR MTVHDDVRR PCI-Express x1 (HDMI) Capture Card

Hello folks. I need some help here. I would like to setup my Videostudio to default '16:9' environment. The Start-Up window has '16:9' as default check. When it opens, the display window does not look like it is 16:9. Should it be more rectangular? I took some time to search for any '16:9' in the Videostudio forum, and in the user guide, and the result came up with nothing (I also searched the help section, and nothing). What am I missing in my search method?

I captured a 1080 HD video from my DVR, and when I inserted it into Videostudio, the video is smaller that than the display window as if it needed to fit. By the way, I captured the video with the capture card's software (Avermedia HDMI Card).

In a nutshell, I would like to set my VideoStudio to default to 16:9 and most important, how can I verify to make sure it is correctly set?

One easy way to check is to change the preview window's background color to something other than black. Go to the Settings menu, Preferences. At the bottom of the General tab, you will see the Preview Window section. Click on the small black square located to the right of Background color. A color picker window will open, change it to red or cyan, just something other than black.

Now click on a clip that you know is 16:9. You should not see the background color. If the clip is 4:3, it will be pillared, and you will see the background on the right and left sides of your clip.

Thanks Ron . . . Just saw the light!

All your instructions are done and 16:9 is seen as set (confirmed).
I really appreciate you quick post.
Thanks again.

Well EdSE, I am in the process of capturing. I am able to capture HD video, but having problem with the video resolution. With the Avermedia HD capture card, the playing on the PC looks good but the captured file does not. At the moment, I am working with the technical support team to find what is causing the not-so-crips video quality.

As soon as I find out and resolve the issue (even if not resolved) I will write a post on the issue. You just keep checking this post for updates. You can bookmark it for easy access.
