Video capture driver

Post by jrbmaclachlan »

I have just moved from XP to windows 7. (not a good idea) I connected my canon video camera via firewire and it is recognised in device manager under imaging devices
When I try to download it with ulead 12 it says " either no video capture driver is installed or no device is connected" Can anyone help

Thanks for quick reply. I think I have installed service pack 1 and 2 in that order but is not obvious that it has installed. It shows version 12.0.98.1.pro when I check in help
Either way I still have the same problem. It is strange as the camera is recognised by the computer

Since you're using fire-wire to transfer your video, you might want to try using WinDV. It is a free utility designed for transferring DV video via fire-wire. It is a rather old piece of software, so I'm not sure it will work in Win7.

I really appreciate all your help. I have a real problem in that everything worked OK until I started using windows 7 . I have a lot of tapes which I need to download and although device manager can see my comera none of my programs including Ulead and windv can do so. Device manager says there is no driver associated with the camera and I dont know if this is necessary. I have E Mailed canon to see if thet have any ideal.

Wow I have solved problem. I went into device manager and deleted the camera from imaging devices. I unplugged the camera and replugged it and hey presto the computer then installed the correct driver aand all is now OK.
