IMPROVEMENTS FOR VIDEOSTUDIO PROX3

Post by Oldiehuck »

Me being a new boy to this Forum (having just introduced myself today) it may be felt that I am too aggressive so early in my membership. However, having used VS since version 4 and always having promoted it to my friends and other videographers, I feel I have enough experience of the program to make my feelings for improving VS known to all. I would also say that I have already made these views direct to Corel on their “Ask a Question” facility to which their answers to my requests for help have always been helpful except for these three unresolved points and two new ones from me, I am now going to mention.
So here’s a few suggestions for improvements to VideoStudio ProX3 which in itself is a great and relatively easy to use video editing program but it does need some of its lesser good points smoothed please –
1 – The captions to the videos, filters, graphics and others are currently a sort of light grey on a black background which do light up when selected but before that they are not that easy to read unless you lighten the whole desktop resolution but this then affects the video itself. So it would help if this caption colour was changed to white which could still illuminate further when selected
2 – The “Repair” option on the installation disc present on previous versions has been deleted from ProX3. However as this was very useful and many time necessary option I cannot understand why it was removed so please Corel would you please re-instate the “Repair” option
3 – Sorry to sat but the DVD Factory from DS201 and now included with Prox3 is in my view not as user friendly as the “Share” option on previous versions. For example there are fewer title screen choices and to move around to customising your DVD video set up is a real pain. So again Corel would you please think about re-introducing the previous “Share” option for burning etc DVDs
4 – Finally a useful addition to the VS program would be a “Save” icon on the main editing work screen as having to go to File – Save often (for me anyway) leads to me forgetting to save and then losing a few steps if the prog shuts down unexpectedly – but more about those shutdowns later
5 – I was disappointed to find – or rather not find – that there was not the usual hard copy user manual included with either DS2010 or VSProX3 and that neither are these available as a PDF online. So this suggestion is that one of these versions (ideally the hard copy edition) is made available by Corel please
Regards and happy videoing to all......................OldieHuck who being old likes everything easy to progress as previous VS versions have been

Why did you not READ the messages above and add your SUGGESTIONS to the 'X3 WHISHLIST FOR FUTURE VERSIONS' ?

I would assume this will either be moved or closed by the moderators.

PS would be nice if you could fill in your computerspec's and details in the USER CONTROL PANEL - UserCP at top of message board.

To make sure of your specs download Belarc Advisor and run that. It will give yopu all the info you need to complete your "System"

It's a great little program which I have used for years. And it will definitely give you far more information than you probably ever wanted to know about your computer.... 8)

1 – The captions to the videos, filters, graphics and others are currently a sort of light grey on a black background which do light up when selected but before that they are not that easy to read unless you lighten the whole desktop resolution but this then affects the video itself. So it would help if this caption colour was changed to white which could still illuminate further when selected Can't comment. This never worries me.
2 – The “Repair” option on the installation disc present on previous versions has been deleted from ProX3. However as this was very useful and many time necessary option I cannot understand why it was removed so please Corel would you please re-instate the “Repair” optionAgree -- though I confess I had not yet noticed this as I had no need to repair!
3 – Sorry to sat but the DVD Factory from DS201 and now included with Prox3 is in my view not as user friendly as the “Share” option on previous versions. For example there are fewer title screen choices and to move around to customising your DVD video set up is a real pain. So again Corel would you please think about re-introducing the previous “Share” option for burning etc DVDs We all agree, and if you had done a minimal search, you would have found a million others posts complaining about it. They have now made Movie Factory 7 SE available, which acts like all the former burning modules in earlier versions of VS... Again, a minimal search would have revealed this to you.
4 – Finally a useful addition to the VS program would be a “Save” icon on the main editing work screen as having to go to File – Save often (for me anyway) leads to me forgetting to save and then losing a few steps if the prog shuts down unexpectedly – but more about those shutdowns later. Not a bad idea, but again it is something that has been brought up time and time again with both Ulead and Corel, with no response. In addition has been the request for a Save option in the old burning option, including in what is now MF 7SE rather than the klutzy way of having to close the whole module in order to get a Save option.
5 – I was disappointed to find – or rather not find – that there was not the usual hard copy user manual included with either DS2010 or VSProX3 and that neither are these available as a PDF online. So this suggestion is that one of these versions (ideally the hard copy edition) is made available by Corel please Lots of others disappointed about this too, and I am afraid that again they have all beaten you to the punch in complaining about it. Again another search etc etc... But at least you can download the on-line version and save it in whatever format you like and even print it out if you want...
