Are you able to open the VSP’s on any PC using VS3?

If yes then create a Smart Package, File-Smart Package.
Transfer the package to the other pc’s, does the VSP open.

You could also try saving the Smart Package to the external HD.

Nesting Projects……..
Have you by any chance nested your VSP files.
This is where you insert a VSP file to the timeline.
If you are able to open the VSP in any PC, check the timelines content.
I am able to open the file on my old laptop (Windows XP) directly from my external HD with no problems at all. It was on this computer that I created the project.
I am not familiar with smart packaging... but when I had the project open, file - smart package, I get:
"the timeline contains one or more Video Studio project file clips, Smart Package cannot proceed."

NO - do NOT try to re-link to the .vsp -VideoStudio knows where that is - it has just opened it - you must re-link to the file which Videostudio is saying does not exist (Corel speak for - does not know where it is) - - use the relink browser window to browse to the file "110209_141448_import_001.MTS" and open that

Yep - silly me.
I relinked to the proper file and all 5 clips loaded perfectly. That worked perfectly - thanks.

MUCH appreciated for the help folks. I don't know what I would have done if I had lost all those hours or sorting and editing. THANKS A TON! :D

Hello,

update for this already old topic.

I used Videostudio X4, then X7 and now the X9. And I always archived my projects on USB discs with using the Smart Package feature of VS.

The projects archived on USB disc with the Smart Package of X4 can be opened by X7.
The projects archived on USB disc with the Smart Package of X7 can be opened by X9 too.
BUT the projects archived on USB disc with the Smart Package of X4 cannot be opened by X9 !!! Error message VSP in use, error code 15055:1:1

Note : an X4 project opened and saved in X7 cannot be opened by VS X9 !

The problem isn't the version of Videostudio nor Windows but the capabilities of VS to use the discs between the versions !

Reading this topic I tried the solution and it's working.

1) copy the VSP of the X4 from the USB drive on the C drive
2) open this VSP C copy in VS X9.5; that works !?!?
3) Relink all the files
4) Make a new archive with the X9 Smart Package
5) Replace the old archive with the new one. This archive can be opened from the USB drive.

I didn't try but perhaps the step 4 and 5 are not mandatory, perhaps only saving the VSP in X9 after relinking the files in X9 and replace the old VSP by the new one is enough. To be tested.
