In the past Ken showed us how to create a video template that would be available at the time to create a video file. I remember I had the option to choose all the settings the same as my first AVCHD video in the time line. Can this be done in X3? I Can't figure it out... I want to edit my AVCHD videos and create a video file with the same settings as my original files...
Thanks,
Dave

You can of course select Share > Create Video File > Same As First Clip if indeed the first clip has the properties you are after. And X3 can do that.
But I think what you were after is the template made with the Add function in Make Movie Template Manager. The latter is under Settings in X3...
First you need to have a short clip of the video whose properties you want to use. For saftey's sake, I make a 5 second clip of that video and call it something like Template Clip. I do that since I will be saving that clip permanently on my computer. I am not sure that the template made this way will continue to work if you delete the linked clip...
Anyway, open Make Movie Template Manager. Then click on the Add button in the dialogue box that appears. Another box appears. The top window in it has "File Path" above it, and the slightly mysterious "..." button to its right. Click on the latter and navigate to where your own short model clip is located and select it. The path will appear in that top window. Then give it a name (e.g. my "Template Clip" or something else you will remember should you have to rebuild the template at some stage.) Then click OK, to close that box, and Close to close the next one.
Next time you choose Share > Create Video File > Template Clip (or the name you assigned) will now appear at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
Note that in future, when you use that template, you have to accept the properties as they are. If you try to change the properties of a template made this way, it will revert to default standard definition DVD properties. Then you will have to start all over again to create another template.
