How do I set PaintShop Pro X3 so that the organizer will not appear when it startup and a new image to appear instead?
In previous versions of PSP, after starting up a new image would appear.

Startup
You can go to the 'program preferances' in the file menu and select one of three views 'Default Launch Workspace' for X3 to start in
Organizer,
Full Editor,or
Keep Last View
Those are the only choices. To get to a photo to work on in full editor you can then use the 'new' command in the file menu and browse for it in Explorer.
If you are in the Organizer you can double click any photo and it will open in the Full Editor, or got to the top right corner of the header and choose the Full Editor or Express lab or visa versa if your in the Editor already

Re: Organizer-how to make it disappear after starting up
After the patch was issued, I decided to try to use PaintShop Photo Pro X3 with the Organizer. One thing going for it is searching -- a hunt using tags or words in file names is very fast.
However, I didn't find any of the problems reported earlier to be fixed.
In my tests, double-clicking a file in the organizer took 24 seconds to open in the Full Editor. Returning to the Organizer from the Full Editor took 6 seconds. Deletion of an image in the Organizer with the delete key took 47 seconds. The deletion destabilized the directory tree for as long as 37 seconds. And don't try to rename a file in the Organizer with the F2 key. On every attempt to do that, the dreaded "...not responding..." message appearer and did not go away for more than three minutes, when the new name finally reappeared. And going back and forth between the Organizer and the Full Editor caused PSPPX3 to crash numerous times while in the edit mode. Crashes had not occurred very often using the Full Editor only since the patch. Organizer should be junked until Corel can get it right!
Just for grins, I tried ACDSee Pro 3 to perform basically the same functions as the Organizer. Now there's a company that's got it right. It makes thumbnails in newly introduced directories very quickly, searches are faster than in the Organizer, allows easy transition from Pro 3 to your external editor. As long as PSPPX3 Full Editor was opened, this happened within a couple of seconds. If the Full Editor was not open, add on another 13 seconds for PSPPX3 to do its slow open routine. (When I used PhotoLine 15.x 64 bit, the selected photo appeared there within 3 seconds -- with PL closed before sending the command from Pro 3.) And Pro 3 has a nice, easy-to-use developer module for raw files that works properly. PSPPX3's Organizer should work like that. Of course the list price for ACDSee Pro 3 is over $160 U.S.!

Re: Organizer-how to make it disappear after starting up
Very strange... Yesterday I've bought Corel PSPP X3 online. Installed as an administrator (used built-in admin account, not a user account with admin rights). Today I've tried to use Organizer, Express Lab, Full Editor, switched between them multiple times, opened tens of 12-megapixel photos (in JPEG and even TIFF format), tried rename and delete commands. However, I can't reproduce your problems although (honestly) I have a 4-year old PC with slow single-core CPU (Windows 7 benchmark rated my CPU speed as only 3.6). I use Windows 7 Pro (64 bit), CPU is AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 1.8 GHz, 3 Gb of RAM. No problems with the Organizer at all. Yes, the Organizer in Corel PSPP X3 isn't too fast application, but I never wait for tens of seconds to perform a file operation in it and didn't encounter freezes or crashes
Is it all right with your system?
P. S. I used PSPP X2 before I've bought PSPP X3. Uninstalled X2 (using the Windows Control Panel), rebooted the system, then installed X3, then installed the patch. All works really great (except for the RAW Lab but it's another topic

I'm glad to hear the PSPPX3 Organizer is working fine on your system.
My Windows 7 64 bit system is working fine, except when I try to run PSPPX3's Organizer. Frankly, I've given up on the Organizer and the raw lab. I just installed ACDSee's Pro 3, which both manages image files and develops them (including raw). I'll stick with Full-Editor operation only in PSPPX3.

Re: Organizer-how to make it disappear after starting up
I have a suggestion for all those people who find the organizer agonizingly slow.
First off you can control what, and how many folders the organizer opens by right clicking the folders you don't need to be shown and removing many, (old and extranious folders), from the windows explorer tree list on the left by 'removing from list'.You can always put them back by using the Browse More Folders option at the top of the list.
People who have their photo folders scattered in different places will also benefit from placing them in a single directory with subfolders e.g.( My Pictures).
Another very good hint is to defragment you HD since doing so will speed up the organizer finding them and opening them by reorganizing them and putting them closer together.(less seek time).
files you took 2 or 3 years ago(or more) will be placed much further back at different locations on the HD than more recent files.
Defraging regularly will in general speed up all apps!

Re: Organizer-how to make it disappear after starting up
Only for information. To satisfy my curiosity I'm now playing with the PSPP X3 Organizer (patched of course) at work, on a totally different system: old (2005) dual-CPU machine (2x AMD Opteron 246, 2.0 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, nVidia GeForce 6600, 160 Gb RAID 1 set, MS Windows XP Professional w. SP3). Run it for 3 hours and can report the only thing: runs very stable and even faster than on my home machine. May be the slow Organizer work is a result of an interference from certain resident components of a third-party program (antivirus/firewall/antispyware)?
