VS12 problems (preview sceeen blank)

So I try to edit videos, and the preview screen is black. I can watch it, but if I move the slider, it doesn't work. Any ideas?

I didn't edit a movie in weeks (at least not in VS12).

I downloaded something from their site (dunno if this is the right way) and it didn't work

I assume you downloaded it from http://tinyurl.com/lfmau5

From memory, it is not the most transprent thing to install. You run the first setup file, but all that does is open a pile of other files in a designated folder. But then you have to look for another Setup file there and activate that to actually carry out the update...
