ISO folder in X3?

Post by erdna »

I know I can create an iso folder in the X2 burning module for an SD DVD, but not for an AVCHD DVD. Does X3 allow to get it for an AVCHD disc?

You can't prepare an ISO file as far as I am aware. But you can certainly prepare, with X3, an AVCHD folder (in effect a BDMV Blu-Ray folder) which you can then burn -- using a data burning program -- to a DVD or play streamed via a Blu-Ray player on your HDTV (as we have previously discussed -- with or without menu!!  )

Thanks Ken. The problem is that my multimedia player doesn't recognize/play a BDMV structure (because it doesn't have a BD player, as apposed to PS3?), but it does play .iso files (SD an HD). In X2 it is only for SD DVD that the .iso possibility can be checked. For AVCHD the option is grayed out.

Hi Ken
I've missed the boat somewhere along the way. I have been editing in x3 then going to Share, Create video file, then using x2 to create my BDMV folder. I can't see how I can create this folder in x3 without adding a menu I thought that was one of the main complaints with x3 authoring! W here have I lost the thread do you think? Is it my age

You've slightly misread my post -- or more to the point, the latest exchange between Erdna and me. His point was that he could make an AVCHD file and play that back directly without going to a lot of other trouble in authoring things, He also question qhy, in X2, I liked the capacity to produce AVCHD discs using a menu (not whether you could produce a menu or not...) My point was that I could produce an AVCHD file with X2 or X3 with a menu for presentational purposes. I was not meaning to suggest that you could produce a disc in X3 without a menu... Sorry for the confusion...

I suppose you mean in AVCHDmode, because in SD DVD mode, when on the burning module sequence (end) where you get the "Burn" buttom you can open for more options and select "Create a disc image", and when checked you get an .iso file.

Yes. In the DVD Factory module which came with X3, you get the option -- though it's a bit hidden -- to produce an AVCHD Folder, but not an ISO.

Frankly, I don't know whether ISO remains as an option on the "new" authoring module for X3 which I announced last night that is now available. It is in effect a modified version of Movie Factory 7 and operates like previous versions of MF and like the authoring module of X2 and earlier versions of VS.

Surprisingly, no one seems to have noticed my Announcement at the top of this Forum! Mind you, I think MF7 SE will only be available under Get More when the silly 3 day rule is observed as I only installed X3 on a new computer a day ago. So I can't test the matter for myself...
