I believe the scripting engine is still pretty much in the same shape it's always been. A few added commands to deal with any extras or changes made to PSP itself.
The text "alpha" may just be a forgetful moment on Corel's part. Like they were testing the scripting when PSP was still in its alpha form and labeled it as such then forgot to change the label.
But all of the scripts still work as expected. So if this is the Alpha, it's better than the full release of the program itself and I would love to see what they do with the language. But I don't think the scripting is in alpha. I think it was just a label they forgot to change.
Maybe someone can help me. I have both PSPX2 and I downloaded X3 because of this problem, but it still freezes up every time I try to run the script. It's a TJP scrip made for images all the same size. I need help.
I'm downloading it to see for myself but here's to hoping.
Kazren, can you turn on your script output palette to see if that provides any valuable information on what's happening while the script runs?
EDIT: Wow what a process. Okay I'll wait for Kazren to get back about the actual script used because if this is the script...the process is very long and complicated and any number of things could go wrong if it's not implemented properly.

I've tried, with the Script output palette, but it never even gets that far - it simply causes the program to freeze up forever until I close it down.
I'm using Windows 7 64 bit. I have been using this same TJP scripting for years on the Vista and prior to that XP computer. I tried running pSPX2 in the "XP Mode" you can run inside a Virtual PC on Windows 7 - that didn't work, either.
Well unless someone else comes up with a good answer for you soon I'll be over here seeing if i can't figure out at which point the script stops functioning.
