Visual Studio 9 error ( 4101)

Post by sopy9262 »

When trying to burn DVDs I can add the files (I make sure the time line is empty) create the menu, test it and try to burn it, I get the following error:
Convert step got some problems
(4101)

I am running WinME with 512 Meg of Ram on an AMD Athlon +1600XP with 32 GB free on my hard drive. I have all the windows security patches The 9 files are MPEG 2s 720 X 480 24 bit at 29.97 FPS totaling under 3.8 GB. The Burner is a TDK DVDRW040N. I have tried 3 different DVD-R media manufacturers with no sucess. The same files loaded into Roxio Easy CD & DVD creator 6 se and Cyberlink Power Producer 2 se are able to burn the DVDs but the menus are not complete (no enough space for descriptions and titles.

Any help would be appreciated.

One of the files in your project may be damaged. If you have the time, try turning off the option to not convert compliant files, which would cause them to be re-rendered. You could also try to create your DVD using each of the individual videos to try to isolate the offending file.

Now new errors

I tried the suggestion and found the bad clip. I recaptured the video file (from VHS tape) and tried it again. This time it gets further and then I get the following two errors:

1. The target device might have some problems. Please try again or reboot ( 5213)

when you click ok you get this:

Failed to record data to the disc.
Error: DVDR-DAO-ASPI-2A-04-05-30-05

Output to an ISO file instead of burning directly to a DVD -- you can change the output options on the last screen of the Create Disk process.

If you can successfully create an ISO file, then the DVD project and its assets are fine, and you can try to burn the ISO onto a blank disk. On the same menu as Videostudio you will find Ulead's CD/DVD Disk Image Recorder. Use that or your favorite ISO burning utility to write the image you created.

You should also be aware of the fact that some utilities such as Nero InCD or Roxio Drag-To-Disk can interfere with other programs that try to burn CDs and DVDs, because these utilities take ownership of the drive as soon as blank media is inserted. In that case, you need to exit or uninstall the offending program before you can burn your DVD using Videostudio.

I was able to create the ISO file but still was receiviing the ASPI error. I uninstalled the ROXIO Easy CD & DVD Creator because even turning off drag to Disc still caused the API error. Now I have to start learning the tweaks like why over saturated colors on the DVD but doesn't show when previewing the pre burn test.

Thank you for your help.

The color calibration of PC displays and TVs are very different, which is why material that was tweaked to look good on your PC may look very bright or washed out when played on a TV.

Try this

Create the video file first (choose make a DVD, the output will be an MPEG file) then burn that mpeg video to DVD. :D
