Why can't VS10 see OpenType & Post Script Fonts?

I always thought the way windows works is that all window applications could see all the fonts that Windows has loaded? I have two fonts with are connected to a trademark that I use in many applications. We have a branded logo that uses Gotham Condensed Bold (otf). It does not appear as available in Video Sudio 10? It's there and available in other applications?

Is this an issue? Is there a patch?
