VS Pro 3 Buggy

Post by pepegota »

There is no comparision with VS Pro 2 regarding stability. VS Pro 2 is far superior. The following problems with VS Pro 3 Are:
1. Freezes up
2. Reports invalid argument, but continues to function
3. Reports invalid argument and shuts down.

These events occur infrequently, but are enough to be a pain.

They need a patch and soon!!
However, it is still a very good program.

I don't have any of those problems. In fact, X3 has never crashed on me, whereas X2 did once in a while.

Please read the following thread and provide the requested info so we may be able to determine what your problem is.
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?t=8959

Have you tried working on the same exact project in X2?

Sounds like you might have a corrupt file from the install. How did you obtain your copy of VS x3. In boxed version with a disk? As a download? Also if you were running the trial version did you unistall it completely before installing the full version?
Could you plesae complete your sytem spec so that we are not just guessing here!

I also experienced the same troubles reported in this post.
My VSX3 version is bought online (download) and installed on Win XP Pro, without pre-installing any trial.
I have noticed that VS X3 malfunction is directly proportional to the complexity of the project I am running (in terms of source data, e.g. AVCHD, number of transitoin/filters, overlay track etc.)

My last project was a pain in the *** to be completed and I had to invent a lot of workaround to make VS X3 life easier, like pre-rendering parts of the project, substituting them, removing some filters etc.
I do not think there is anything corrupted in the source material, in fact the DVD 16:9 rendering is ok... but other formats (e.g. wmv HD or mp4) crashes...

Also, I have noticed some weird behavior with the batch conversion, like:

1. rendering into AVCHD => batch convert to wmv, the voice audio track goes out of sync... but if the source data is a DVD 16:9, and the batch converter format still the same wmv, the audio is ok :-|

2. the batch-converted wmv (from DVD 16:9) shows blended parts of videos, e.g, a scene is about me walking: my human-body shape is somehow cut and put over a previous scene background, i.e. something like to cut a walking person and plug over a different background...
The whole scene is jittery and jerky, i.e. the output has pixelated areas (e.g. my profile appareas like a pixelated transitoin...)
I have noticed this weird effect by playing the wmv on a very slow PC, I will check later on my 2 PC (mid-fast and very-fast) the same file, but I can't imagine it's an issue of the PC+player...

In few words, I am waiting for some Corel patch which, hopefully, will improve the whole SW reliability and efficiency. It really needs that!
Any idea about what's going on in Corel and some possible schedule ?

An example: I had a few clips on the video track. I wanted to trim the first clip from the beginning. As I tried to move the slider nothing happened and then the following error message: I was able to trim the clip by moving the other clips to the right opening up room.

Appname: vstudio.exe Appver 13.0.0.0 Modname: ntdll.dll
Modver:5.1.26.2180 Offset:00018fea

More tech info was provided. How can I send attachments to you?

As for using system, I gave all the info it required-could see no way to send this to you.

If you have more than one clip in the video track then you can't move the right hand clip to the right and create a gap. You can't have a gap in this track, if you preview the gap what would you expect to see "an empty space". Are you sure you were not in an overlay track?

Go to your profile. There you will see where to add your system details. When you have done this just click on the System icon at the bottom of the post and your details will show. This means everytime you post we can all view your system details. Click the System icon on my post (this one) and you will see!
You need to upload the file you want to attach, usually an image of a screenshot, to a server then use the Img tags to include it in a post. You put the URL showing the full path and the file extension between the Img tags.

As for using system, I gave all the info it required-could see no way to send this to you.
See above
