VideoStudio Stops Responding

VideoStudio Stops Responding
My VSP files which I want to convert it into Flash files (*.flv) contains the following items :
1. Flash file (*.swf)
2. One Video File in .wmv format
3. Two Audio Files in .wav format
4. Few Jpeg Images
5. Transitions.
When I batch convert my VSP files into Flash file (.flv format) it stops responding and eventually closes.
I am working on Windows Vista 32-bit with VideoStudio Pro X2.

Do any of the VSP files contain a nested VSP file? Do all the VSPs you're trying to convert contain the same file types as you described? I was able to run a batch conversion to FLV using random VSP files on my system. At this time I would suspect one of the VSP files contains a file that may be corrupt, this could be audio, video or SWF, a file that may have been moved or deleted, or your system may not have the resources needed to handle such a task.
Is your FLV file going to have properties close to that of any video files (WMV) that are being converted? If you're taking 320 x 240 WMV files and converting them to 640 x 480 FLV files, you're asking a lot from your pc, especially if you only have 1-HDD. It must do a tremendous amount of reading and writing to accomplish this. Spitting the task between 2 drives makes this much easier on your system.
This could also just be a transition that VS doesn't like. For some reason over the years VS has had problems with the Album transitions. Even though they're included with the program, they tend to cause problems while rendering.

Hi Ron,
I am not familiar with nested VSP file. Can you please elaborate. Yes my all VSP files contain the same mentioned items. My WMV video file has 704*528 frame rate and I am converting flash files in 640*480 resolution. I don't think that there would be any chance of corrupting file as I was able to convert the same process before formatting my laptop.
I have 3 drives in my laptop.
Thanks as always.

And to know your system details would be a help. See the sticky post at the top of this forum "Please read this before posting"

Hi Alnish
OK but please can you complete your System details, then we are better able to see if your spec is struggling with what you want to do. I see you have 3 HDD connected but what I think Ron meant was if your VSP's are on HDD1 then try to save the batch converted ones to No 2 or 3 Then HDD 1 has not got all the work to do. It spreads the load so to speak!

Then why not try Ron's idea of setting a different HDD as the target for the converted files? If it works it proves his point and would be easy enough to move the files back to HDD1 if you need to!Alnish wrote:Hi Mitchell,
I am doing all my work done on HDD1 only. My VS, VSP files and location to save batch converted files are on HDD1.

Most laptops that I'm familiar with, can only have 1 actual physical HDD. Are you using external HDDs, or is your HDD partitioned? If it is the latter, it really has no beneficial affect to choose different partitions. The drive will still have to do all the reading and writing.I have 3 drives in my laptop.
Hopefully not, but files can develop some degree of corruption, that may not show up while viewing them. When you render, these corruptions can cause the process to fail.I don't think that there would be any chance of corrupting file as I was able to convert the same process before formatting my laptop.
After reformatting your drive, did you perhaps make sure you installed all the updates for VS, and equally important install the most current update for DirectX? There's a sticky located at the top of this forum, providing a link to download and install it. DirectX is not provided with the automated windows updates. It seems to fix several problems that appear with VS, some being caused by merely by doing Windows updates..
John mentioned that because it causes confusion and duplication of replies, so we ask that you do not duplicate your questions..That I know Mitchell. But my query is pending there also.

First of all my apologies for reposting the same question again. I am in a big hurry to solve this problem.
I have one HDD with 3 partitions.
I agree with your point that my files may be corrupted. Then why VS is converting the same files in all other formats except for .flv?
Yes, I have updated all the necessary files.

I ran down an earlier post of mine, that I had a problem with rendering to FLV, however VS would hang. See if the following thread may help..
