Video studio and iMac

Post by monnerat »

Some 2 years ago, when I was deciding to move to Mac I wrote this forum to find out if it would be possible to continue using Video Studio, because I was an old user of such software and happy with it.
I moved to Mac two years ago and I still use Video Studio, now version Pro X2, as Mac computers accept some specific softwares that permit you to run Windows inside it.
These softwares create a virtual machine and you install Windows and any Windows software in it.
I thought it could be of interest
Regards :D

Muito obrigado pela informação, Paulo. Eu estava pensando nisso recentemente, mas no sentido contrario: se fosse possível utilisar Final Cut Pro do Mac num computador PC... Infelizmente, sempre não está possível...

(For the Portuguese-challenged, "Thanks for the information, Paulo. I was thinking about this recently, but in the opposite sense: whether it might be possible to use Mac's Final Cut Pro on a PC. But unfortunately that is still not possible...")

If anyone wants to delve into the world of virtualisation there is a pretty deep guide --->here. <---

But can you create an Apple/Mac virtual machine on a PC?

Yes but it is not as easy and straightforward as creating a Windows or Linux system. There is no point going into detail here because none of the Corel/Ulead stuff works natively on an Apple Mac.

Thanks Steve -- useful information. I realise that about Corel/Ulead products and Macs, but my query is whether Mac stuff (and more specifically, Final Cut Pro) can be induced to work on a PC...

But yes, this is getting way off-topic...

A few months ago I looked at the possibility of installing OS X Snow Leopard into VirtualBox and my research indicated that you can only do it with various tweaks and fixes. However I did not pursue it any further because

1. I would have had to purchase a copy of Snow Leopard
2. My research intimated that there were various obstacles to overcome - so I would run the risk of wasting my money if I could not get it to work.
3. It is in fact illegal to install OS X on anything other than an apple computer. See Item 2 of the Software Licence Agreement

Adding these observations together and with the only motive for installing OS X being curiosity I decided not to continue but went on to other projects instead.

It's illegal to run Mac OS X on a PC-but it's legal to use Windows on a Mac (eg. with Parallels, Boot Camp, VMWare Fusion).
