Video Studio 11 - How Can I Restore Library Thumbnails?

Post by NVCruiser »

Hi,
In Video Studio 11, when I go into the "Title" part, I used to have thumbnails of sample titles which came installed with VS11. I (or my wife) must have deleted these thumbnails. Is there a way to restore the original thumbnails, specifically those in the "Title" part of VS11?

I have checked all the menus in VS11 and I don't see anything allowing me to restore the original thumbnails.

Thanks.

The easiest way would be to open the file(s) using the library manager. You would then have to find them on your HD, probably in the VS samples folder. The other alternative is a re-install.

For titles you will probably have to do at least a repair install, if not a complete reinstall to get those back. They are contained in a folder called Title found in C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11\Ulead.dat folder. It is a *.dat file.

Hi
I don¡¦t have VS 11 but this works for VS 10¡K.so 11 should be the same¡K.
The title library files are Dat files. called VS_Title.dat, VS_Video.dat, VS_Image.dat etc

If we knew your operating system it would make things easier¡K¡K¡K..

For Vista they are here, C¡XUsers¡XUser name¡XAppData¡XRoaming¡XUlead Systems¡XUleadVideo Studio¡X11
For XP C¡XDocuments Settings-User Name¡XApplication data¡XUlead Syatems¡XUlead Video Studio¡X11
At least I think that¡¦s the correct locations.

Find VS_Title.dat and rename it as VS_Title copy.dat

Starting Video Studio should recreate the default file.

For X2¡XVideo Studio 12
You can re-set the whole library from the Tools-Library Manager.

Hi Trevor,
I tried this but unfortunately it didn't work. I have Vista Home Edition, 32 bit. I guess I'll have to redownload VS11.
Thanks just the same.

Almost on the same subject , I was considering deleting most of the images in the libraries supplied with the program to allow more space for the images I am working with. But I thought it would be worthwhile saving them somewhere where I could access them if needed . Any suggestions? Thanks, Peter

Are you running out of space on your 650GB hard drive?

Or if it is the library images you are referring to, you can simply make a new library with the Library Manager. I always make a new library for the particular project I am working on.

I played with this a bit more and manged to get the orginal thumbnails restored for every category except "Title".

In other words, renaming VS_Video.dat, VS_Image.dat etc manged to restore the original thumbnails for the "Video" and "Image" categories. But renaming VS_Title.dat (to "VS_Title copy.dat") didn't restore the original thumbnails.

Any ideas? Thanks.

You still have not completed your system specifications page.
Please click here --> Image so that we can then view your system specifications without having to search through your previous posts.

Instead of renaming the "DAT" files, rename the entire folder

Library images

Post by Peem »

A reply to Steve - As Black Lab suggests it is more a case of trying to find my images amongst the existing thumbnails in the libraries. With a few projects on the go out once, the libraries can become quite crowded as they retain all the clips used in previous projects. Is there a setting or preference so that only clips relating to the individual projects load into the library's when each project is opened?

I realise I won't delete them from my hard drive if I delete the thumbnails but I may never be able to find them again and, who knows, one day I may even feel the need to use one of them. So I was considering creating a few folders in my documents and moving most of them there.

Thanks Steve, I always suspected the program had more capability than was obvious . I have learned more by joining this forum than anything offered by Corel. regards, Peter.
