MF4 DVD allows files to be written to hard drive rather than direct to disk.
The equivalent option in MF4 CD is to write a .ixa file - how does that work?

Hi,

The .ixa is an image file format extension. Image files can be created by MF and other disc authoring programs to make an image of what the disc looks like, sector by sector. There is some evidence that making an image file of the content, then burning that file to a disc will make the disc more compatible.

A lot of factors are cited, such as disc wobble, how the system reports speed and such, that give the image file burning a bit of a boost in making a disc more readable by players.

MF can write to image and can take that image and burn it. Other CD/DVD burning programs can burn the image to disc, too.

Thanks Mike.
So it's the CD equivalent of saving .VOB files to hard drive for DVD?
When the .ixa file is recorded on to a CD the result will be as if it had been done directly, but with the added security you mention?
I always record DVDs this way, to drive first, then to disk, and find it more secure.
