Error on VideoStudio during rendering Full HD projects

Post by vhalen »

Hi,

My name is Ronaldo and I buy a new Videostudio X3 Pro. I already use Videostudio 11 Pro with a lot of success...

BUT right now I'm having a serious problems to do some FULL HD
videos on Videostudio X3. I'm using video with extension M2TS get from my Full HD camera - Panasonic

My project have 40 minutes mixed FULL HD videos and conventional videos. The project have 1,5mb and a lot of effects and transitions... I use too some texts and samples of Videostudio folder.

After a lot of unsuccessful tests I reformat my machine, update Windows to last releases, install Videostudio (full copy sent me from Corel Support on Brazil), defrag disc and only after this I try to render my video. BUT it doesn't work (stop on 5%).

I put my project and dump file on MEGAUPLOAD to share it and someone discover what happens. After this I put a lot of informations from videos that I used on my project.

How can I fix it to create my project? What I need to do to create a successful Full HD video? I can't create another project similar to this because I spent a lot of hours to create this... It's a huge project with all my effects and transitions...

My project is:

My dump file get during error screen:

I will put a sample Full HD video to someone test it.
I don't understand a lot of video types, resolutions and FPS.
I only add this videos on my projects and work with it.

Full HD Video : 24Mb

Bom dia, Ronaldo. Tudo bom com você?

First, can you tell us if the project always stops at 5% -- in other words, does it always stop at the same point? If so, that would initially suggest that at that point in the project, there is something that Video Studio does not like... You could look around that point on the timeline and perhaps take out the video and try rendering again. If it still stops around that point, then put that piece of video back in, and take out a transition, then try rendering again. If it works, then you know it is the transition that caused the problem, so use another one. What I am suggesting is that you try to identify if there is something at that point in the project which causes VS to stop working.

The other thing I would suggest is that you don't use SmartRender. If you are producing a High Definition video from your project, then your standard definition video will be fully rendered in any case. But your high definition AVCHD video will only be rendered where it has been edited if you have SmartRender enabled.

I have written many times on this Forum that with AVCHD and HDV video, you should NEVER use SmartRender as it seems to cause too many problems. It takes longer to produce a new video from your project, yes, but it usually does it without any problems. And if you maintain the same properties as your original AVCHD for your new video, then you will not notice any visible loss in quality in the new file -- though of course there will be obvious differences in quality in the new video between those parts which were originally AVCHD and those which were SD.

Boa sorte!

Obrigado Ken,

Everytime that I try to render this Full HD project stops in different point. On one PC stops on 20% and another PC stops on 5%...

My project has 40 minutes. I already try to reduce it to 2 minutes without success.

BUT I tried to render my project in DVD mode and it finished perfectly. At 720p it's works right (using about 60% of processor).

If I create a Full HD project without any transitions or other effects it is finished perfectly. But If I try to reduce my actual project to 2 minutes don't work.

I received by e-mail a lot of suggestions by Corel Support and I'll do this. I removed all codec by other softwares (like Klite, Ac3 Filters, etc) and installed only Divx (from Divx.com), Quicktime (from Apple.com) and Flash Player 10.

Steps that I will try:
1. Try to render actual project with 2 minutes only removing all transitions and effects
2. Try to render actual project with 2 minutes with transitions
3. Try to render actual project with 40 minutes without transitions and effects.
4. Try to render actual project with 40 minutes with transtitions and effects.

I'll put the results here BUT it's very important to you know that render with low resolution works fine!

Thanks
Ronaldo

One thing I forgot to ask: do you use SmartProxy when editing and compiling your project?

Also, do you use a variety of transitions in the project? Some of the more complex transitions sometimes cause people problems. Personally, I tend to use crossfade 98% of the time, and perhaps one of the others only in very special cases where the transition enhances some aspect of the video. Perhaps that is why I do not experience a similar problem to you...? Quem sabe...? :?:

I want to share my experience with HD (m2ts) that finally ended into a success (also thanks to Ken Berry's advices!!).
In fact, I finally manage to render my 1920x1080 based project (16 mins long), which uses a lot of transitions & filters (also from external plug-ins like Adorage and NewBlueFx, so I think it can be considered a good AVCHD test case).
The "spell" that I used is:

- AVCHD 1920x1080 final rendering
- disable smart proxy (I disabled them both in the project options and in the final rendering options... in Italy we say: just because I am not able to read and write... I literally followed the suggestion and swept off all the smart-render check boxes around there :-)
- do not accept the partial re-encoding suggestion but re-encode everything

The result is clean, no blips, no jerky playing. The final VBR is 18000, which is ok for my needs.
The final file size (16 mins) is about 1.8GB.
Now I am running some test to batch convert the final video into some lighter formats for online uploading.

Hope this can help others to render in AVCHD.

After rendering to AVCHD, I made some experiments to shrink the size and I got is a good quality vs. size result.
I used:the batch convert to wmv format, creating a custom profile with following settings:

Audio encoding mode: Bit rate VBR
Video encoding mode: Bit rate VBR (Peak)
Audience: 1345.02 Kbps
Audio codec: Windows Media Audio 9.2
Audio format: 64 kbps, 44 kHz, stereo VBR
Video codec: Windows Media Video V8
Video bit rate: 1272 Kbps
Video peak rate: 3816 Kbps
Video size: 1280 x 720
Frame rate: 12.5 fps
Key frame: 10 s
Buffer max: 5 s

The output is just 160MB (from original 1.8GB AVCHD) and the video quality pretty good (for the video streaming).
If I find a way to bypass China Great Firewall, I will upload soon and post the link.

Thanks Ken and Roberto to your reply BUT my problem persists...

When I try to render with Full HD quality the program crash! If I try to render with DVD quality it finish great!

I did this steps BUT didn't work with Full HD:
- Turn off Smart Render;
- Don't accept Partial Reenconding;
- Remove All transitions;

If I try to render with lower quality, it finish great BUT I realy need to create a Full HD video.

How can I do this?
Is there another thing to do to finish the render process without crashes the program?

Thanks

Hi all,

I'm posting my new steps to try to work with Videostudio X3 Pro and render my Full HD Project.

My project definitly don't work with Full HD on Videostudio. All tips send to me don't work and crash program...

Now, I try to remove all transitions and remove some part of the project.

My steps (all with Full HD resolution and AVCHD codec):
1. Removing all transtions, the Full HD project don't finish. It crashes on 30% (my project has 50 minutes).
2. Removing all transtions and reduce to 12 minutes it works.
3. With all transitions and reduce project to 10 minutes it crashes on 30%.

Now, I going to try create a new project with anothers transitions and features. I'll post the result here soon!

Anyone has a new tip to get this program work?

Thanks

Hi Ken,

I have news for your about my tries to make a Full HD video.

I try to create 3 new projects with Full HD videos, standard videos and effects. (all steps bellow are using full hd videos mixed with standard videos)

1. When I tried to create a video without any translations, stops Videostudio working and crashed it! The project was very large (30 minutes)

1. When I tried to create a video with random translations, stops Videostudio working and crashed it! The project had 12 minutes.

2. When I tried to create a video only with Slide-Mesh transation (pattern), it finished great! The project had 12 minutes.

My new step will be create a new project with mixed videos types, using slide-mesh transation and using another effect like texts, overlay, and others...

Another thing:
- My files have some special chars like "-" and "_" because they were created so. Is there some restritions with this? Example: my file is in this location: E:\HDWRITER\Vacations\2010-01-12\20100112_100988.m2ts

Thanks

Sorry but I have really run out of ideas...I tend mainly to use the cross fade transition, and only very occasionally one or two of the others (such as the flying flip). But I have never have any trouble with either AVCHD or HDV...

As for the file names, that is the standard way Video Studio names files on capture, using those characters and numbers...

Dear Ken,

I'm trying a lot of things to make my project work.
I'm rendering Full HD with AVCHD option on SHARE tab.

Is there another option to render my project? I saw something like Blu-ray option...
I will play this video only on playstation and computers.

Thanks

Hi Ken,

I have some news to you!
I finish to render my Full HD project and everything works great.

BUT I don't know how I do it...

I was using AVCHD > NTSC 1920x1080 option on CREATE VIDEO and Videostudio crashed on 15%.
I tried to create my video using Bluray > NTSC MPEG2 1920x1080 option and finish great.
I tried to create the same video using Bluray > NTSC H.264 1920x1080 option and finish great too.

My question is:
- Why AVCHD option crashs Videostudio when I use it?
- What is the difference between BLURAY vs AVCHD option on create video file?

Thanks

Hi everybody,

Anyone has information about rendering codecs?
I want to know what is the difference between BLURAY vs AVCHD option on SHARE MENU.
I created a file (.mpg) using BLURAY option (NTSC H.264 Full HD) but my PS3 didn't recognize it.
My PS3 read easly my M2TS files from my Panasonic Camcorder.

Another question:
When I play AVCHD file I don't have problems with slow movie or blips.
When I play my BLURAY file created on Videostudio, my movie is slow and perforated.
Why it happens?

Thanks
