Hi all,
I have an issue with using MultiTrim Video feature Fast Forward/Rewind.
1. Create new project
2. Place source video at timeline
3. Open MultiTrim video dialog
4. Use Fast Forward/Rewind for draft preview - VS X3 immediately crashes.
When I use a similar feature, Single Clip Trim, against the same clip but in image library (because the Single Clip Trim is available from there only), Fast Forward/Rewind works with a small glitch - when forwarding/rewinding on > 1x speed, it opens a separate window showing the video (in addition to the what is shown in SingleTrim dialog).
Does anyone experience the same problem or know a workaround?
Source video is simple DV video (not HDV), captured with MainConcept codec (which I used for a while in old MediaStudio 8 ).
X3 - MultiTrim crushes when using Fast Forward/Rewind

Welcome to the forums,
Having a look at your system specs, your PC should not be having this problem. I just tried to replicate the crash on my older PC, which is similar to yours. I used a DV clip, and ran the FFWD/Rev, varying the speed, basically trying to force the program to crash, however could not. I would suspect that this type of crash is related to the resources VS has at it's immediate disposal. Are you running any other applications, internet, instant messaging while your trying to edit? I'm not, just VS..

Thanks Ron.
I've just completed upgrade (or downgrade?) from MediaStudio to X3, finding that X3, in comparing with prev versions, ideally suits my editing workflow and provides usable UI to speedup the workflow - when making the test proj I spent 5 evenings for my vacs proj instead usual 10-15 with Media Studio (with same level of tech complexity). Still surprised about that fact
Back to the question - after some testing I've decided that this is problem related to MainConcept codec:
1) Use the sample video (I've used that with clock counting ): placed on timeline, using Share created a DV PAL 4:3 (not Custom, but DV with pre-defined values). Placed resulted file again on time line and tested MultiTrim - everything is Ok
2) Use the same sample video but Share with Custom using MainConcept codec - use MultiTrim on on resulting file, the problem appears.
well, all my source video is captured with mainconcept - If I'll not be able to do some magic, I'll review and change my capturing workflow (still at MediaStudio with MainConcept)
Thanks again,
Sergey
